There’s about to be one more pizzeria in town, Jersey City. Washington, D.C.-based pizza chain &pizza has opened its second New Jersey location in Exchange Place.
Now located at Suite 202 at 30 Montgomery Street, &pizza was founded almost 10 years ago in Washington, D.C. Since then, &pizza has opened locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, and even New York City. The new Jersey City location isn’t the first of its kind in New Jersey, as an Edison location is also in the process of opening up; however, the 30 Montgomery outpost is the pizza chain’s first foray into Hudson County.

About &Pizza
At &pizza, guests can customize their pizzas, choosing the dough, sauce, cheese, and toppings for their pie — kind of like how you build a sandwich at Subway or DIY an ice cream creation at Cold Stone.
Aside from crafting your own pie, the &pizza menu has a few pre-made options, too — you know, for any indecisive pizza-lovers. These include a category called The Hits — featuring Dirty Bird, Moonstruck, American Honey, and Maverick — as well as The OGs — The OG, Lil Roni, and Gnarlic — and The Limiteds, which sadly, are only available at &pizza’s New York City locations.

About the Pies

The OG is a classic pie made with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and salt and pepper. It clocks in at 855 calories and 40 grams of protein. Another fan-favorite is the Gnarlic, made with garlic ricotta, fresh mozzarella, grilled onion, basil pesto, and parmesan cheese.

If you’re into something more adventurous and exciting, check out the Moonstruck pie: mushroom truffles, garlic ricotta, fresh mozzarella, mushroom, grilled onion, goat cheese, and fig balsamic. If you’re more of a meat-lover, try the Maverick, made with classic tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, basil pesto, and parmesan cheese. {We’ll spare you the calorie count on that one!}
Beyond Pizza
Aside from delicious-looking pizza, &pizza also has a bit of flair and personality, as evidenced by its official social media posts. Particularly on Instagram, &pizza has cultivated quite a following by creating and posting hilarious pizza-loving memes. From incorporating classic SpongeBoB scenes to referencing President Trump to even using Shakira and J.Lo’s Super Bowl Halftime Show to make a comment about pizza, the &pizza Instagram has amassed more than 40K followers.

And one follower — or at least fan — in particular, is pretty alarming. It’s none other than Keanu Reeves, who was recently photographed grabbing a slice at an undisclosed &pizza location {note: we can’t actually confirm if this is a real photo or is Photoshopped, but either way, trust Keanu}.

The Pizza Scene in JC
OK, so &pizza may be Keanu Reeves-approved, but Jersey City knows good pizza. After all, the State of New Jersey recently declared itself the “pizza capital of the world” {check out the New York Post article on that here}, so you could say we know a thing or two about pizza. In fact, &pizza is joining an area laden with pizzerias: Pizzeria Las Americas is at 260 Warren Street, John’s Pizzeria is over at 87 Sussex, Krispy is located at 32 Hudson Street in the Liberty Towers, Pizza Pie’s at 101 Greene Street, and so many more good, local spots.
Not to mention, Jersey City pizza was actually nationally recognized just last year, as two JC pizza restaurants — Razza Pizza Artignale and Bread and Salt — were listed on The Daily Meal’s 101 Best Pizzas in America ranking.
