Normally we grumble at all the BS surrounding the PATH and NJ Transit, as there is much to be desired. But this time, they’re on the right track. Adding artists of all types to their platforms… literally.

Are you a musician, dancer, poet, or all-around entertainer? New Jersey’s PATH is looking for entertainers to showcase at five different shows throughout PATH Stations in Hudson County. The new program is called “PATH Performs! Art in Transit.”

Port Authority officials are partnering up with the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs in order to bring Hudson County “PATH Performs! Art in Transit.” But in order to make the musical and artistic magic happen, PATH needs you!

Selected artists will have a PATH Station “residency” in which they can perform on a volunteer basis from June through October. The five stations participating in “PATH Performs! Art in Transit” include Hoboken, Journal Square, Harrison, Newport, and Exchange Place.

At this time, the Grove Street station is not an eligible option. Port Authority officials site “space restrictions and other considerations” as the reasoning.

If you are an entertainer who is interested in being considered for the PATH station program, the registration deadline is up and coming on March 21. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28 at the William Brennan Courthouse between 6pm and 9pm. {William Brennan Courthouse is located at 583 Newark Avenue in Jersey City.}

The new program, of course, comes with its own set of rules. Performances have to occur in program-approved designated areas within the designated PATH stations. Performers must not, at any time, impede the flow and movement of passengers who exit and enter the stations and trains. The overall goal, aside from entertainment, of course, is safety. Performers must adhere to performance guidelines and PATH rules and regulations.

Interested musicians, poets, and dancers can register for an audition here. PATH will get back to eligible participants regarding an audition date.
