The Details

According to Wallethub, the top 10 states for working moms are Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, and New Hampshire.  The study was created based on 27 different metrics in each state to determine the final ranking. These metrics included daycare quality, child care costs, gender pay gaps, and female-to-male ratios in the workplace.

This study comes after a decrease in women in the workforce due to COVID-19. Wallethub explained that women make up about half of this number and that about 68% of moms with children under 18 were working as of 2021 – but this number dropped about 1.3% between 2019 and 2021.

Our community is filled with so many amazing women working in and outside of the home. There are many ways to support these women, from shopping at a women-owned business or eating at a women-owned restaurant, or learning about a women-run community organization.
