Hoboken Spots We 💚

Best Spot for Date Night: Leo’s Grandevous {200 Grand Street}

leo's grandevous hoboken

Hobbs Inc

An ode to Frank Sinatra doesn’t even begin to cover this cozy Italian spot. With a Hudson Restaurant Week menu full of seafood specialties — like the grilled octopus or black squid ink linguini, your taste buds will be crooning louder than Ol’ Blue Eyes. Leo’s is also celebrating its 80th, yes 80th, anniversary this season. It’s worth a trip, even just to see the shrine-de-Frank they have on the walls. Tip: Try the pan-seared scallops! See the full HRW menu here.

Best Girls’ Night Out: Sushi Lounge {200 Hudson Street}

This Japanese restaurant in downtown Hoboken has a great vibe for a girls’ night out {think martinis, fun sushi platters, and more}. Order the Sushi Rock Entree — 7 pieces of sushi and 1 California roll, chef’s choice, served with choice of miso soup or house salad. The Sashimi Rock Entree is another go-to, with 16 pieces of assorted fresh fish. Finish it off with some fried ice cream, and continue the night at the bar. See the full HRW menu here.

Best Spot for Families: Hudson Tavern {51 14th Street}

^Buff chick spring rolls, plz + thank you

Hudson Tavern proudly boasts that it has some of the best burgers in Hoboken {like the grilled 10oz Hudson Tavern Burger – with choice of french fries, sweet potato fries or side house salad you should DEF try}. But that’s hardly all HT offers; on the menu is buffalo chicken spring rolls, pierogies, and a must-try Pistachio Encrusted Fillet of Salmon – served with steamed spinach, yellow rice and orange beurre blanc sauce}. For our mamas and papas, HT’s spaciousness and friendly vibe makes it a go-to place for families with small children, especially because they allow children’s seating at the bar {and they have a 2-course menu option for $19 for Hudson Restaurant Week}. See more of the Hudson Tavern menu for HRW here.

Best BYOB: Anthony David’s {953 Bloomfield Street}

Beyond its delicious food, Anthony David’s, a Hoboken staple that just celebrated its 20th year, also offers a unique BYOB restaurant option for anyone preferring to come with their own wine {or beverage of choice} in hand. Beyond just bringing your own, they have a ‘menu’ of BYO options where they can go buy from the liquor store nearby for your meal. Read more about the AD menu for Hudson Restaurant Week here, which features three courses of deliciousness for just $38.

For Vegetarians: Barbès {1300 Park Avenue}

A newbie to the Hoboken scene, this Moroccan-French-inspired spot serves up hearty meals that have quite the original twist. The Tomate Montrachet, featured above, has layers of tomato, goat cheese, and pesto with shallot + tomato vinaigrette — a perfect starter for the most delicious meal. See more of the HRW menu here.

Gluten-Free Friendly: Bin 14 {1314 Washington Street}

bin 14

While Bin 14 on a regular evening has an array of gluten-free options, its Hudson Restaurant Week menu really takes it up a notch {read: all of the apps AND entrees on the HRW menu are gluten-free except for one [the meatball and polenta] or can be made gluten-free}. HG Tip: The carbonara is a must. You’re welcome. Get the full HRW menu here.

Treat Yo’Self: Dino & Harry’s {163 14th Street}

Dino & Harry’s Steakhouse is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re feeling like you deserve a “Treat Yo’Self” moment, then it’s best had here. Located in Hoboken, Dino & Harry’s has quite the selection of appetizers and entrees alike, complete with a large bar + piano playing on the weekends. The steak is the famous go-to, of course, and the cozy vibe is unparalleled. More info here.

Jersey City Spots We 💚

Best Spot for Date Night: Satis Bistro

This rustic-chic eatery tucked away in Paulus Hook is the ideal spot for date night, with its romantic ambiance and large wine selection. The European-style cafe even made New Jersey’s Top 50 restaurants earlier this year. Might we suggest: The meat + cheese plate, Cast Iron Roasted Half Chicken {with parmesan-crusted Yukon potatoes, charred broccolini, pan gravy}, and the house-made Ricotta Gnocchi. View the special HRW menu here.

Best Girls’ Night Out: Talde

If you and the girls are ready to hit the town for a unique night out, Talde is the spot to hit in Jersey City. The Asian-American fusion restaurant can be found in downtown Jersey City, where there are plenty of plum basil margaritas and kabocha squash dumplings to go around! On the Hudson Restaurant Week menu, we recommend the McBao – charsui, St. Louis ribs, and house pickles as your starter.  More about Talde’s HRW menu here.

Best Spot for Families: Light Horse Tavern {199 Washington Street}

To celebrate HRW, the Light Horse Tavern is offering a 3-course dinner menu, $38 per person. Highlights we are loving include Crispy Fried Calamari, Gnocchi, and their mouth-watering Chocolate Bread Pudding {but the creme brûlée is always a hit, too}. View the full menu and make your rezzies here.

Best BYOB: Pasta Dal Cuore {527 Jersey Avenue}
