The Hoboken Girl Team 
Per a Nixle alert, Hoboken High School is on lockdown and the area surrounding the school has been blocked off to traffic. The initial alert went out around 3:10PM on Tuesday, February 10th.
Marci Rubin, a spokesperson for the Hoboken Police Department, shared the following statement. “The Hoboken Police Department continues to ask residents to avoid the area of Hoboken High School. Out of an abundance of caution, Hoboken High School remains in lockdown due to a Hoboken Police investigation into a called-in potential threat.
Once the police investigation concludes, the school will be dismissed and impacted streets will reopen.
Streets are currently closed from 7th Street to 10th Street and Willow Avenue to Adams Street.”
A reader shared an email sent to parents by Hoboken High School Principal Robin Piccapietra saying that a call that ‘may or may not be a threat’ was called in to the school at 2:45PM. “In an abundance of caution we have put the school on lockdown as the police are currently investigating.”
Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour replied to social comments suggesting that ICE activity was taking place at or near the school, saying it wasn’t true.
As of 4:35PM, the lockdown has been lifted, per a Nixle alert. “The Hoboken Police Department has cleared Hoboken High School and determined that there is no threat at this time. All students are undergoing a controlled dismissal and police officers will remain in the area out of an abundance of caution. The surrounding roads will reopen shortly.
The Hoboken Police Department thanks residents and community members for their cooperation and patience.”
