A Space for Children to Explore their Creativity
Founded in 2017 by NYC-based architect Gregory Okshteyn, PLAYDAY set out to accomplish three things: expose children to innovative creative education, provide an art-focused after school program, and attract the best professional educators to be positive creative role models for PLAYDAY students.
“The best part of running this business is watching the children thrive in a creative, social, and safe studio environment. The goal of PLAYDAY is to expose children to their own creativity and embrace diversity, confidence, and awareness of self,” Gregory Okshteyn told Hoboken Girl. “Our instructors are highly trained creatives with a passion for teaching children and our studio is a clean, safe, and super creative space where students are encouraged to investigate and play to build confidence.”
Operations at the Hoboken location are overseen by Megan Smith, the Director of Operations. Hoboken manager Shalisia Johnson ensures everything runs smoothly, from class schedules to supplies. The team of professional instructors is passionate about art and teaching children, which makes PLAYDAY a fun and creative place for kids to learn and grow.
“We love the sense of community built by all the families who live in Hoboken,” Okshteyn shared. “The activities at PLAYDAY are designed for families and children to have a well-rounded artistic experience. We pride ourselves on having the most innovative art classes that keep children engaged and motivated building a positive relationship to creativity.”
Programs Offered at PLAYDAY
Classes at PLAYDAY cover abstract art, animation, illustration, sculpture, drawing, painting, origami, and mixed media. Students can stick with a favorite genre or expand their artistic skills with a new class. A few of the classes include Doodle Hour, Color Explosion, Little Architects, Cut + Paste, Fiber Frenzy, and Water Color World.
PLAYDAY Art Classes start at age five and optimize on everything kids find fun — trying something new and creative with their friends while making a bit of a mess. Classes start at $45/class for a one-time drop-in or you can purchase a 10-pack or 20-pack of classes.
The afterschool program is geared towards school-age kids and runs from 3PM to 6PM. These 3-hour passes cost $100 and are valid for 6 months after purchase.
Full and half-day recess programs are also available for the winter, ranging from $600 to $700, to keep creative minds busy during the colder months.
Kids can attend PLAYDAY camp in a variety of ways, from a 5-day access pass to half-day or full-day access, there is something for every schedule. Younger artists can check out the Grown Up & Me class which is designed for kids ages one to four who still need a little help with fine motor skills and following instruction. According to Okshteyn, the most popular classes at PLAYDAY are the Grown Up & Me Art Classes and the After School Art Classes.
Birthday parties and special events held at PLAYDAY can be tailored to meet the needs of participants of any age.
