About the Opening

Formerly occupied by Pop-Up Pizza, Empyrean took over the location that’s right across from the Hoboken PATH Station and opened shortly after the New Year. Following this, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, January 29. According to Google, it already has 4.5 stars and close to 100 positive reviews.

Empyrean is a modern Indian restaurant “that takes you on a flavorful journey. Like the name, the menu will awaken your senses and challenge your imagination. You will be transported to an appealing setting while in the comfort of your own neighborhood,” the website states.

The deli is stocked daily to give visitors “the best of Elysian.” This includes “natural, fresh and handpicked ingredients” that make the farm-to-table dishes have an abundance of flavors and aromas.

About the Menu

Per the website, the Indian restaurant has two different chefs leading the kitchen: one specializing in Tandoori items {a mild and creamy curry sauce usually made with a blend of ginger, tamarind, garlic, and aromatic spices}, and one specializing in various curry items {the combination of spices and/or herbs, usually including ground turmeric, ginger, coriander, cumin, and fresh or dried chilies}.

Patrons can find a variety of items on the menu — and there are enough options for every kind of taste bud! Appetizers include fish pakoda, samosa, paddi chat. There is a section on the menu for Tandoori dishes and a wide selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries. In addition, guests can find various rice and biryanis entrees, all served with raita, plus different kinds of bread, including garlic naan, onion kulcha, and lachha paratha.

Lastly, can’t forget the drinks! There is a full bar inside the restaurant, featuring “unique cocktails” like Delhi spicy mojito, ginger/mango/chocolate martinis, and old-fashioned cinnamon bourbon. On a gorgeous day, patrons can enjoy the delicious concoctions outside on the patio.
