Name:
Charles
Breed: Korean Jindo mix
Weight: 40lbs
Age: 10 months
Ideal Home: Charles’ dream home would have a fenced-in backyard and doggie sibling. A home with structure and routine would be ideal as he is absolutely a rescue dog and will need a patient adopter willing to put in the work to help Charles transition to life as a loved puppy.
Kids: 13 years or older
Dogs: Yes
Cats: He’s never met a cat before and would need to be introduced slowly.
Crate-Trained: He loves to sleep in his crate at night but only with the door open. He needs work on keeping the crate door closed.

House Trained:
He’s 95% there.
Other training: He’ll need to work on leash training, walking in public places, gaining confidence outside. Right now he’s very fearful on walks and around new people.
Leash Manners: Very skittish and scared of passing people and loud noises. He will dodge or hide from joggers, kids, bicycles, etc. However, he is non-reactive with passing dogs.

Personality:
Once he’s comfortable with you Charles is sweet, playful, and calm. When he’s out of his comfort zone (outside on walks, in public places) he’s extremely nervous and fearful. The ideal adopter would need plenty of time and patience to help Charles gain confidence and trust. Previous experience with the Jindo breed or rescue dogs, in general, would be fantastic!
Why he was brought to the rescue: Charles was rescued in South Korea after his previous owners surrendered him (for growing bigger than expected). The previous owner kept him tied outside on a short leash with no food or water in extremely hot weather. He’s experienced a significant amount of trauma in his short life, but there’s a carefree puppy inside just waiting to come out! With time and patience, Charles is sure to become a loyal and loving pup.
