The story moves between memory and the present day, a unique spin on emotional storytelling that fills the theater with energy.
What we realized about BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB is that even for people who don’t frequent Broadway, it is the kind of show that pulls you in and keeps you engaged. Everything about the production draws directly from the Buena Vista Social Club band, showing off the cultural impact that shaped Cuban music across generations. The production has also worked wonders for the New York community, having partnerships with the New York Department of Education and The Situation Project to help introduce middle and high school students to Cuban, Hispanic, and Afro-Caribbean culture through arts programming. “Our programming will also provide a chance for students to develop critical musical skills while engaging directly with a Broadway show, perhaps for the first time ever,” as stated on the show’s website.
