Two Heathers has closed its doors. The clothing boutique, located at 331 Washington Street, opened in October of 2014 and featured high-end clothing and accessories. We’re always sad to see a business close and wish nothing but the best to the whole team at Two Heathers!

After five years in Hoboken, Lucky Baby Boutique will be closing the retail portion of their business. The shop had everything from adorable baby clothes to toys and accessories. The space will now be converted into a cozy photography studio for Camila Ferrer Photography’s newborn, maternity, and family photoshoots. Photography has always been a part of Lucky Baby and will now become the sole focus. According to a post on their Facebook page, “This is certainly a bittersweet moment for us as we say goodbye to our retail business but super excited to pursue our passion – capturing beautiful pictures of precious babies in their first few days of life.”  Stop by over the next few weeks to pick up discounted baby retail!

Five Guys Burger and Fries Closes

Five Guys Burgers and Fries has officially closed their Hoboken location. The burger joint opened its doors at 319 Washington Street in 2008. No word on what caused them to close, but it seems the trend in town is moving towards healthier food options and Five Guys has been ranked on numerous unhealthy fast-food lists. We’re interested to see what will open up next! Best of luck to the whole team at Five Guys as they move on to new ventures.

Blue Eyes to Close for Renovations

Blue Eyes restaurant will be closing its doors for about a month for renovations. The Italian eatery ranked as our top pizza joint in our Hoboken Girl Best of 2015 list. We’re going to miss the ahh-mazing Nutella cappuccino {read all about it from one of our past visits} while their closed but are so excited to see what the new renovation will bring to one of our favorite spots in town!

Sad news came on Christmas Day when it was reported that the body of 23-year-old Anthony Urena was recovered from the Hudson River. Urena had been missing since November 14th after partying at Cliff Lounge. He was last seen leaving the lounge around 5:00AM. We hate when the news includes tragedies like this. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all of those affected.

The Parking Dude App Comes to Hoboken

Parking might be the one of the few things we have to complain about in Hoboken but a new app promises to help make the struggle a bit easier. The Parking Dude App is officially launching in Hoboken and will be available for download for Android and IOS devices by the end of this month. The app seeks to help Hoboken residents and visitors by providing important information about parking rules and regulations in town. Every on-street parking spot is programmed in to the app to create a grid for the city of Hoboken. The app will tell users key information including street cleaning times, side of street resident v. visitor rules, and even Temporary No Parking rules. Another key feature of the app is the ability to request a shoveling service for your car during snow storms {yes please!}. We can’t wait to try it out!

Overnight Freezing Temperatures Headed to Hoboken

In our last Word on the {Washington} Street post, we reported on crazy warm temperatures for Christmas. Just two weeks later, it looks like we’re headed to a very cold evenings  with low temperature predictions hitting the teens on Monday evening and then the twenties on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The warm weather may have seemed unnatural, but we’re not sure if we’re ready for this much of a drop. Break out the warm scarves and mittens and bundle up these next couple of days!

Hoboken Approves Climbing Gym

Our friends at Hmag reported some very cool news recently about the City’s approval for a indoor rock climbing gym to open in Hoboken. The Gravity Vault has been seeking approval for years to open up an indoor climbing gym in town and it looks like they’ve finally received permission to open at 15th and Willow. This will be such a unique and fun addition to town!
