Oh, yes. It’s that time of year again in Hoboken — the Arts and Music Festival! Due to Washington Street construction, this year’s festival will take place on Washington Street between 8th and 14th Street. For those who are not familiar with the Hoboken Arts and Music festival, it is basically a free festival all along Washington with tons of perks. The festival features fine artists (oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, sculptures, mixed media, photography, etc.), children’s activities (face painting, sand art, balloons), handmade art (pottery, metalwork, wood items, furniture, blown + fused glass, quilts, household items made from recycled materials, batik clothing, hand painted furniture, candles, jewelry, dried florals, soaps & lotions), and of course a bunch of performing artists. As if this wasn’t enough, there are lots of great food options throughout the fair. Hoboken restaurants will set up street cafes offering an eclectic variety of international foods such as: Thai, Indian, Greek, French, Mexican, Cajun and Italian. This event is for sure a Hoboken can’t miss.

2nd Annual Unity Walk: Sunday, June 11th from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Join in on a walk to unite a neighborhood to stand against violence, injustice and inequality in the community. On June 11, 2016, more than 400 people walked down Martin Luther King Drive on purpose with a purpose, and this year it’s time to do it again. In efforts to decrease violence, it is important to spread awareness to empower many more to join the movement. J.C.A.C.M. envisions “a city where residents are safe to walk the streets with their families, respected as fellow human beings to live free from violence.” They support victims of violence and promote prevention measures in the hope that it leads to eradicating violence in Jersey City. The walk starts at Mcadoo Ave and MLK Drive in Jersey City.
