1. Do your online research
You may be an avid Yelper when it comes to checking out restaurants or a nail salon, but it’s also more than a good idea to research your next moving company online too. Check out what the community is saying about their experiences on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, BBB, and MyMovingReviews.
2. Only move with a company that offers a flat rate
If you don’t want to get nickel and dimed {because, who does?}, make sure you get a guaranteed price in writing and check the FINE print. Have a list of your inventory prior to calling your moving company because they will need this to give an accurate quote. There’s nothing worse than having a headache from your move in general AND for a surplus of charges.
3. Does your building require a Certificate of Insurance to move in and out?
If so, Roadway handles issuing a certificate of insurance for all required buildings.
4. Invest in moving insurance if you have valuable items
You can check with your home insurance policy first but reputable moving companies will offer full valuation. All moving companies should offer basic insurance without an extra cost associated with it, so ask how much is covered per pound.
5. Know what to pack
Most companies will offer full packing but it typically costs more.
