Virtual Easter Egg Hunt

For Go on an egg hunt around the world with Watson Adventures. Eggs are hidden in art museum paintings, in royal homes as Fabergé eggs, or in natural history museums as giant dinosaur eggs and tiny hummingbird eggs. Hosts meet with teams on Zoom and send you hopping off around the world, following clues that lead you to websites where you must find eggs and answer fun questions about them. The Amazing Virtual Easter Scavenger Hunt

You will need your thinking caps for this clue-filled hunt around New York City. A series of clues leads you around the Highline, Chelsea Market, and Hudson Yards, asking you to perform physical and mental challenges for the entire family along the way. Wear comfortable shoes and wear a mask. One member of the team should have a smartphone. The hunt is run through the app ScanQuest so be sure to have it downloaded before you arrive. Tickets are $25. Black Space Event Series Hosted by Jersey City Theater Center

The Jersey City Theater Center launches a new talk series this week, Black Space, an ongoing series of intimate and candid conversations exploring the experiences of black artists in the world today. The talks are led by Ashley Nicole Baptiste, JCTC’s Associate Artistic Director. In both one-on-one interviews and panel discussions, Baptiste will engage with black performing and visual artists from a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and countries, who will share their stories and also the unique challenges they face in a world deeply activated by a newly heightened awareness of racial justice and the urgent need to heal and rectify profound racial inequities. The WALK-BYE: agency group show exhibit will be unveiled on March 1st at 4:00PM at the Five Corners Library, 678 Newark Avenue in Jersey City in partnership with the Jersey City Public Library. What is the ability to affect one’s life by having the power to make choices, resistance to oppression, and an iron will to gain freedom? WALK-BYE was founded in 2020 by Catalina Aranguren. The exhibit is inspired by Black History Month and Women’s History Month. The show is the sixth installation in Aranguren’s series of outdoor community art exhibits. Raisa Nosova is pleased to now offer Classical Art Classes for youth at Rexer Contemporary Art gallery. College portfolio preparation, Classical drawing, and Classical painting techniques for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels are offered throughout the week. Healing the Divide: Race, Medicine, and the Covid-19 Vaccine Event Hosted by NJPAC

Monday, April 5th | 7:00PM

Join NJPAC for a conversation with medical experts examining the history of racial discrimination in health care, and how the shadow of medical apartheid will impact the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. From the Tuskegee experiments of the 20th century to the multiple barriers to appropriate care Black people still encounter today, this panel will discuss the origins of the deep mistrust of the medical establishment felt by many in communities of color, and how that lack of trust might be mitigated in order to equitably distribute the COVID-19 vaccine. The event will include a greeting from Mayor Ras Baraka, and will be moderated by Dr. Denise Anderson, founder and CEO of Denise Anderson & Associates, an independent public health and health care consultancy business, the Executive Director of the New Jersey Department of Health’s  Maternal Care Quality Collaborative, and Principal of the COVID Rapid Mobile Response Team at the New Jersey Department of Health.

#RIFT Play Hosted By Luna Stage Company

Ways to Give Back Locally

Pound Animal Welfare Society {PAWS} 

Hundreds of animals need adoption across the state of New Jersey. For over 41 years, the Pound Animal Welfare Society has been helping place homeless animals. PAWS does not have a facility to house animals in need, but the support of generous volunteers makes the work possible. In addition to fostering animals, supplies are needed. Hoboken Food Pantry

The Hoboken Food Pantry is always accepting individual donations including through their Wish List. Contactless donations can be made through The Food Pantry’s Amazon Wish List. Items ordered on The Wish List will be sent directly to The Food Pantry. Nearly 25% of the Hoboken Community relies on the help of the Hoboken Food Pantry, which is a part of the Hoboken Community Center. Its pantry is only stocked and distributed through the support of the community. The Food Pantry needs non-perishable food and personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, instant oatmeal, shelf-stable milk, deodorant, shampoo, canned pasta, cereal, and peanut butter—to name a few. Hoboken Family Alliance

One of the oldest non-profits in Hoboken, the Hoboken Family Alliance is a resource for children and families in the Mile Square. HFA typically puts on various events and provides opportunities for children to learn and play in a safe environment while providing families with various needs necessary resources. HFA has several opportunities for volunteering through its committees and sub-committees such as marketing, special needs, fundraising, and more. Learn more here.

The Hoboken Shelter 

The Hoboken Shelter hosts 50 guests nightly and serves more than 1,000 meals throughout the week. As a full-service community partner, the Hoboken Shelter is a necessary resource within the neighborhood. The Shelter is always in need of donations and support to help keep its doors open and welcoming to its guests. Hudson County American Red Cross 

The American Red Cross has been ready to respond in times of disaster for decades—and the COVID-19 crisis is no different. More than ever, the American Red Cross is in need of volunteers to help us all get through this time together. While they have tons of different opportunities, the opportunity they are naming “most urgent” in the North Jersey area is as a Volunteer Driver. Drivers are needed to safely transport lifesaving blood from local blood drives to hospitals. Volunteers are asked to commit to 2-4 shifts per month with each shift being about 4 hours. All volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, at least 3 years of a clean driving record, and should be able to lift at least 45lbs. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America®, is the leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state.
