Living with pain is a stress that no one deserves. Whether chronic or caused by an accident or injury, your day-to-day lifestyle can be severely impacted if you’re living with constant discomfort. Seeing a doctor for non-COVID related health concerns over the last few months probably meant you’d receive a telehealth appointment to maintain your self-isolation and safety, which if you are in need of a chiropractor or physical therapist is — let’s face it — TOUGH. The good news is that more and more practices are open for patients and have taken the precautions necessary for patient and staff safety, and The Spine & Sports Health Center is one of them.

The Spine & Sports Health Center specializes in the non-surgical treatment of all types of spine and joint pain through pain management, physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and more — opened by a group of medical doctors in Hoboken and expanding rapidly in Hudson County. The office has remained open for in-person treatment, but patients can also continue with telemedicine appointments if preferred. The Hoboken office is located at 720 Monroe Street Suite C208 {in the Monroe Center}, and there are offices in Jersey City and Bayonne, as well. Check out the new health and safety protocols that have been put in place so you can confidently get treated for all your aches and pains.

New Safety Measures for Patients + Staff

The Spine & Sports Health Center has implemented new safety protocols to reduce the risk of COVID-19 for the safety of all patients and staff. They want all patients to feel safe receiving their treatments because they know pain doesn’t have a pause button.

Some of the measures you can expect to see and experience are:

Hobbs Inc
  • — Increase to cleaning and sanitizing: The Spine & Sports Center already had processes in place to maintain cleanliness, but the team has increased the extent and frequency. Exam rooms are cleaned between every patient and the waiting rooms, front desks, and common areas are all cleaned and wiped down more frequently throughout the day now, as well.
  • — Use of PPE and hand-washing: The staff is using gloves and masks, and requiring patients wear a mask at all times, as well. Medical staff also thoroughly washes their hands before and after every single patient.
  • — Social distancing within the office: Spacious waiting rooms are perfect to accommodate social distancing and now it’s even easier thanks to markings that show chairs are a six-foot distance from each other.
  • — Promoting NJ Dept of Health Guidelines: Patients and staff have been encouraged to follow the guidelines recommended by the NJ Dept of Health which include: wash hands often with soap and water {if not available, use hand sanitizer}; avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands; avoid contact with people who are sick; stay home while you are sick and avoid contact with others; cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

Additionally, the staff is currently screening patients for symptoms and possible COVID-19 exposure on the phone when scheduling appointments, and once again in the office. They are requiring that patients stay home if they are not feeling well. The office has also implemented temperature checks and will be installing plastic safety screens at the front desks.

The Spine & Sports Health Center has been around for over 10 years and has two other locations in Jersey City and Bayonne. {Know before you go — the Bayonne location only offers pain treatments.} Dr. Alex Visco is the medical director and founder of the practice, which is one of the aspects that really makes The Spine & Sports Health Center stand out. It was founded and currently run by medical doctors — not to mention has pain management doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, chiropractors, and a massage therapist — just within the Hoboken location. Basically, you get high-quality service from many specialists all under one roof – instead of 5 different appointments around the area for one issue.

Telemedicine Appointments Still Available

While the office is open for those requiring in-person care, the team recognizes that it’s not safe for everyone to venture out of their homes right now. Because of this, they have implemented a telemedicine program to allow patients to see doctors from the safety of their own homes. Sports medicine and pain management are available for both in-person sessions and via telehealth. Physical therapy and chiropractic services are available in-person at the Hoboken location only. And — good news — massage therapy treatments are coming back as of July 6th!

Here are the main treatments areas offered:

  • — Pain management: in-person and telehealth
  • — Sports medicine: in-person and telehealth
  • — Physical therapy: in-person
  • — Chiropractic: in-person
  • — Massage therapy: in-person on July 6th

The philosophy at The Spine & Sports Health Center is that no one should have to live in pain. Patients come from all over, with all types of pain complaints, and the staff and doctors work hard to uncover the source of pain and design a highly targeted plan for relief and recovery. This is done through personalized, minimally-invasive {non-surgical} treatment plans, which take into account each patient’s specific needs, lifestyle, and overall goals for recovery. Whether you’re suffering from sciatica, chronic neck or back pain, can’t seem to fully recover from a sports injury, or you have pain that just isn’t going away, the board-certified physicians and skilled medical staff are here to help.
