What is Smartlipo?
Smartlipo is a fat reduction using laser technology created by Cynosure that targets stubborn fat areas. It is a 2-in-1 procedure, as the skin tightens in the desired area during the healing process. Smartlipo is often referred to as “laser lipo” because it uses laser technology to melt the fat in the stubborn areas. First, the Doctor makes tiny punctures to the area, and lidocaine is applied to numb the area and make it as painless as possible. The laser, which uses heat at a very high temperature, is applied to the area, as it melts down the fat cells, permanently destroying them. This heat melts down the fat to a liquid, which makes it easy to suction through those tiny punctures. Because of this melting approach, there is no need for cutting {which means no scarring whatsoever}. That same heated laser also stimulates your body’s own collagen development, which ultimately helps the skin tighten, so patients don’t have hanging skin afterward.

Dr. Fondacaro is a pioneer of the Smartlipo technique and is actually a clinical trainer for Cynosure.
