The moment you arrive at the restaurant, the traditional Mexican art will catch your eye with its bright colors and beauty. Enjoy their unlimited salsa and chips, which are free when dining at the restaurant. For a delicious starter, try their Super Nachos which come with tortilla chips, melted Monterey Jack cheese, black beans, guacamole, fresh pico de gallo, and sour cream for $9.99. For vegetarians, their grilled tofu tacos are also a hit. A no-fuss, no muss sushi spot with an extensive menu filled with Japanese cuisine and unique specialty rolls, any sushi lover will feel right at home when dining at Hudson Sushi. Make sure to try their Paradise Roll, which is appropriately named. It comes with salmon, tuna, and avocado for $6.50. If you’re looking for a more filling choice, their signature Hudson Roll comes with shrimp tempura inside, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, and smoked barbeque eel for $12.

Trattoria Napoli {4525 Broadway}

The friendly staff at Trattoria Napoli is reason enough to visit, but it doesn’t hurt that the food is incredible as well! Their menu offers traditional Italian cuisine, with pizza made in “a custom-built wood-burning brick oven”, and best of all, it’s BYOB. Try their decadent lobster ravioli in vodka sauce for $12.95 that will leave you asking for seconds. Their Linguine Alla Mare is also a great choice if you’re looking for a more filling dish, and comes with calamari, shrimp, clams, mussels + marinara sauce {$20.95}.

If you’re looking for a delicious, quick bite to eat packed with flavor, Sabor a Mexico is the place for you. This hidden gem on Bergenline Avenue offers authentic Mexican dishes for amazing prices. Their staff is warm, and the menu has a variety of traditional plates like chicken tacos for $9 or if you’re a vegetarian, a Quesadilla de Hongos {mushrooms} for $3.95.

Social 59 Eatery & Lounge {512 59th Street}

Located in the heart of West New York, this Latin-fusion restaurant + lounge offers a unique experience for those looking to enjoy great music and Latin-American cuisine. With a focus on tapas, Social 59 has delicious appetizers like mozzarella sticks, pizza, and beef empanaditas {$5-$7}. The Tostones Montados {mounted} are also a great option {$9-$12}. If you’re looking for drinks with a twist, their Social Mojitos are the way to go with flavors like strawberry, coconut, mango, and more {$12}.

With a touch of elegant decor and incredible views of the Hudson River, Son Cubano is a great place to enjoy a lovely meal outdoors. Their menu offers unique Cuban cuisine. Try the Ropa Nueva {an ode to the traditional Ropa Vieja} which includes short rib, butternut squash puree, and autumn harvest veggies for $38.   

North Bergen

Brazeiro {7420 Broadway Avenue}

North Bergen’s very own Brazilian steakhouse has outdoor seating with heat lamps available to keep you warm {however, the palm trees and tropical decor alone can accomplish that}, while their delicious passion fruit Caipirinha {$5} will put you in a great mood. Try Brigadeiro {Brazilian fudge balls} for dessert for only $4.

Harry’s Food and Drink {8101 Bergenline Avenue}

This gastropub is a hidden gem in North Bergen. With an old-school vibe, the restaurant has a live jazz band playing on Thursday evenings. Bang Bang chicken wings{$12}, cauliflower nuggets{$8} and Spaghetti alla Pomodoro{$15}, Harry’s has something for everyone — meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. They offer dine-in {indoor + outdoor}, takeout, and delivery. It is also a great venue for private events {currently accommodating 35 guests}.

Porto by Antonio {8921 Old River Road}

With a rustic Italian feel, Porto is the perfect place to get authentic, Neapolitan-style pizza in North Bergen. Their Pappardelle Al Pesto Di Pistacchio{$19} is another delicious option and comes with basil, oven-roasted pistachio pesto, pecorino romano cheese, and cream. Their Nutella Pizza{$14.95} is a satisfying dessert for those with a sweet tooth.

River View Diner {7850 River Road}

The casual American diner is open 24 hours Friday-Sunday and has an array of options for all palates. Their Ultimate Nachos{$9} is a popular appetizer and comes with tortilla chips with chili, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream. The Baked Eggplant Parmigiana{$12} is a great way to go if you’re looking for a filling dish and it’s topped with melted mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce.

Waterside {7800 River Road}

The upscale restaurant/catering venue on the waterfront has incredible views and delicious food to boot. Their Seared Sea Scallops{$17} is a great gluten-free option and comes with crispy sweet corn polenta, saffron, and fresh corn sauce. Their specialty Waterside Dessert{$40} serves 4 people and comes with brownies, Oreos, M&M’s, milk caramel cups, Heath Toffee, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and fresh cream.
