Prime Cycle, a cycling studio frequented by many of Hoboken’s exercise aficionados, has reportedly been evicted from their uptown location. Hoboken Girl strives to provide our readers with all the latest news around the Mile Square, and we are truly saddened to share the recent string of events that has closed uptown Prime for good.
Prime Cycle, located at 1025 Maxwell Lane, opened in 2014 in the retail space below one of the waterfront apartment complexes owned by Toll Brothers. About a year into their lease, Toll Brothers informed the Prime team that a tenant was complaining about the noise in his apartment – noise he claimed was coming from Prime. Fast-forward three years and $165K of sound-proofing renovations later, the same tenant continued to report noise. Allegedly, the noise levels were never “zero”, resulting in Toll Brothers evicting Prime Cycle.
Prime Cycle’s last day uptown will be February 11th and the well-being and satisfaction of their client’s is truly their top priority during this period of change. If you’re one of the 4,000 clients that is affected by this change, expect to receive a letter from the studio outlining the closure timeline. In the meantime, here are a list of additional FAQs the Prime Cycle shared with the HG team to share with readers:
Is the closure effective immediately? No, Prime Cycle’s last day will be Sunday, February 11th.
What will happen to current memberships? Prime Cycle will match the number of classes you have in your account from the day we close Uptown with that exact number of classes to be used Downtown. This offer is valid up to 10 classes. All new classes added to your account will have a three month expiration date of May 11th.
What if I’m a monthly rider? If you are a monthly rider, you will have the option to stop your monthly payments upon our closing or change your pricing to the new lower monthly pricing outlined below. We will be contacting all monthly riders directly immediately.
What does the downtown studio have as far as amenities? Our studio has 35 bikes, a state-of-the-art sound and light system, 3 showers, a babysitting room {offered at all the same times as the uptown classes} and everything else we have at Uptown.
Will I still be able to take classes with my favorite uptown instructors? Just about all of your favorite Uptown instructors and time slots will be available at our Downtown location. We did our best to combine the two schedules to make the transition as convenient as possible.
Will Class Pass rides still be available? Downtown will continue to accept Class Pass {still one of the only studios in town to do so}.
What is the February downtown pricing? 1 Ride – $20, 3 Pack – $55, 5 Pack – $85, 10 Pack – $160, Unlimited Monthly (one month)- $170, Teen 1 Ride – $15, College Students & Teens Unlimited Monthly – $99.
Anything else we should know? Prime Cycle will continue to offer our $5 Uber special. If you take a taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc. to Prime Cycle Downtown and show us your receipt, we will give you a $5 credit in your Prime account. Prime Cycle will also continue its $5 parking reimbursement plan. Present us with proof of garage parking and we will give you a $5 credit in your Prime Cycle account.
