September brings everything nice and pumpkin spice but if you’re still ordering frozen margs on the reg, you’re not alone. Located at 77 Hudson Street, The Pig and Parrot {the old Hotel Victor} just recently opened and we are digging their lowkey {pun not intended} Key West vibe. Nearly a month after Hotel Victor’s closing, Pig and Parrot opened its doors in record time. Dual owners Mike + Mike were more than excited to open up shop right next to the PATH station, attracting a nice mixed crowd of commuters and locals. Here’s more about this newly-opened downtown Hoboken bar:
Vibe
The duo pulled this switch off just in time for football season but have a longer-term plan of tropical vibes in process. “I’ve been in the bar scene since I was seven years old. This is just what I do,” explained owner Mike Citarella. You don’t even have to catch a flight to catch the Key West fever. The walls are adorned with southern flair from sharks to parrots to Jimmy Buffet tributes — reminding us it’s always 5:00 in Hoboken.
Banners donning all of the SEC schools complete the picture and TBH, while it has a sports bar vibe, this spot is perfect for drinks any night of the week. Make sure you snag a seat at the Smallest Bar in the corner, which rivals the original one in Key West. The bar attracts a great crowd filled with football fans and people just looking to have a good time.
Menu and Drinks
The decor isn’t the only tribute to the beautiful city of Key West, as the menu and drinks also reflect the southern Florida charm of the beach. Plates such as the rice bowls {which include coconut jasmine rice, sauteed veggie power blends, and your choice of vegetables, grilled chicken, grouper, steak, shrimp or island surf + turf} or classic Floridian fare like fried green tomatoes and coconut shrimp. The drinks are just as tropical as the menu, with Rum Runners, Daiquiris, and Frozen Margs + a Key Lime Martini being on the top of our list. Truly, there’s something to quench everyone’s thirst and happy hour is from 4:00PM-8:00PM daily {and features beer bucket, food, shots, and sangria specials}.

Sentiments
The Pig and Parrot has already become relatively popular with the locals. The bar fills up on weekdays around 6:00PM and tends to host a slightly older crowd of around 30 and up. With the new bar renovations around the PATH, Pig and Parrot has been a great addition to the downtown bar scene. Football fans are flocking to this SEC Headquarters bar to watch their favorite games, grab a bite to eat, and throw back a few drinks with friends. So long as the weather stays nice, the outdoor space will be open to enjoy — fingers crossed that’s at least till November. Welcome to the neighborhood, P+P!
