When you’re in town on a random weeknight and want to do something fun {yet low-key}, we found a great girls’ night “out” that is the perfect cure to a beauty rut / non-bar situation with a little education mixed in. Luxe Lessons are a new happening over at Luxe Face & Body, an adorable {and natural} beauty boutique on 1st street.

Last week, we went to the “Defining Your Features” class which featured tips on how to accentuate cheek bones and hide your little flaws {aka lose 5 lbs with makeup, yes please}. Luxe offers these classes sporadically on weeknights {check their FB page for dates}, and this one peaked my interested so we went!

For the class, we were told to BYOM{makeup} so we could learn to contour and highlight with what we had. I brought my caboodle {wiiiish I still had one, womp womp} of Nars, tarte, Makeup Forever, Too Faced, and Bare Minerals — and added a little vino to the mix. It’s always fun to play with makeup with some wine in tow, just sayin.

We were each given our own mirror, supplies, and samples, which were fun to play with. The on-staff make-up artist taught us how to thin out our faces while giving dimension and creating shadow, plus a few highlighting tricks that were easy to follow {believe me, I am not good at doing my own makeup so this was perfect}. Since I didn’t have highlighter in my makeup bag {who knew it was godsent and made you look so dewy!?}, the MUA used one of the store’s samples which I fell in love with and obviously had to buy.

The class was only an hour long, but in that time we made some new friends {and I even met a girl who lives on my floor in my apartment building!}. Small world! It was a really fun class, and I ended up spending a boatload of money on all of the amazing stuff at Luxe afterwards just because I love buying makeup and some of their products are really great. My favorite purchase {besides my Vincent Longo bronzer and powder}, was this neutral armour lipstick {front row, four over from the left, in below photo}. It is my new go-to gloss because it neutralizes any color and makes it a bit more subdued, even if it’s a pop-of-color underneath. Obsessed!

After the class, we went to Teak for some sushi, and I couldn’t help but take a bathroom selfie with my newly contoured cheekbones {which needed to be extra contoured, since it was all-you-can-eat night Tuesday}:

Needless to say, a fun and educational time with some girlfriends — the perfect pick-me-up to a lonnnngg week.

The owner, Jahnalyn said if you’re interested in a specific class or the whole program to call or email to book your spot and get their schedule! 201-222-2472 or email jahnalyn@luxefaceandbody.com. Luxe is also a wonderful, shop small spot for makeup {and their prices are super-comparable to Sephora and other bigger makeup chains}. They also have a ton of organic and all-natural products, which is amazing/totally worth the splurge. HG loves Luxe!
