#1 Massive Sculpture Debuts Along Jersey City Waterfront

If you’ve been near the Jersey City waterfront of late, you may have noticed a giant sculpture being assembled – it’s kind of hard to miss. The 80 feet tall sculpture in question is called Water’s Soul created by internationally famous artist Jaume Plensa. Read more here.

#3 Sturgeon Spotted Along Hoboken Waterfront

In June, Hoboken residents spotted something fishy while walking along the Hudson. A large scaly creature broke the surface of the river, sunning itself close to shore just long enough for interested locals to snap a shot – turns out, it was a Sturgeon. Read more here.

#6 Hoboken Dog’s Mysterious Disappearance Has Tragic Ending

A Hoboken pup is missing and it was later discovered that the dog sitter who was initially booked online, had stolen the pup. Tragically, the dog was tracked down and taken to the vet by the owners but he didn’t make it in the end. Read more here.

On the morning of December 20th, the City of Hoboken’s Office of Emergency Management sent out an alert asking people to avoid the southwest area of Hoboken due to an active fire at 38 Jackson Street. We learned since then that there were two fatal victims and many of the businesses located in that building lost everything. Read more about the initial news here and the updates here.

In August, there was a sudden appearance and influx of lanternfly bugs — which are invasive planthopper bug that is detrimental to plants and our ecosystem. This insect has the potential to greatly impact agricultural crops and hardwood trees. The City announced to be on the lookout for them and kill them on-site. Read more here.
