There’s no better way to enjoy the beginning of July {and this beautiful —albeit hot—weather} than with some great tunes and live music. We’ve done the research to find some musical events involving all things instrument + vocals-related. Check out this list of live music happening in Hudson County {mainly Hoboken and Jersey City} in July 2018, for your enjoyment:

July 5th – Hoboken Summer Bash in Sinatra Park {Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

Gather the family for a whole night of fun and music. Concert to begin at 7:00PM while overlooking the entire NYC skyline.

July 7th –  Cicada Radio/Huffers/Joy Cleaner at FM {340, 2618, 3rd Street, Jersey City}

Dancing Tony and FM present Cicada Radio, Huffers, and Joy Cleaner for a night of musical powerhouses. Starting right at 8:00PM, tickets are just $8.

July 10 –  Kinky Friedman at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

When Willie Nelson calls, it must be answered. And Kinky Friedman did just that. His summer tour is hitting Jersey City showcasing all original tunes for the first time in four decades. Tickets run between $20-$25 and doors open at 7:30.

July 8th – Songwriting Series at FM {340, 2618, 3rd Street, Jersey City}

2nd Sunday Songwriting Series is back with VPs from Viacom, MTV, and BET. Hone those songwriting skills to become the best thing yet. Every second Sunday from 8-12pm.

July 11th – Tanghetto at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

White Eagle Hall is bringing Argentina to Jersey City. Enjoy a blend of tango and electronic sounds from the Buenos Aires native Tanghetto. Be sure to show up early {7:30PM} for a tango lesson to be ready to dance in proper style before the main concert event.

July 11th – Orquesta El Macabeo at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

All the way from Puerto Rico, this group is spicy up salsa music. Think the traditional salsa elements that are loved combined with a punk spirit. Tickets start at $15 with doors opening at 7:30.

July 11 – Gryzzle, Dr. Law, and Junkaroo at FM {3rd Street, Jersey City}

FM is bringing a bunch of acts together for a night of musical power. Gryzzle, Dr. Law, and Junkaroo are set to take the stage now with even more acts to be announced as the date gets closer. Tickets are $7 at the door.

July 12th – Swing Sabroso in Sinatra Park {Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

For nearly 2 decades this group has been winning the hearts of fans in the tri-state area and internationally. Now, they will be in Hoboken to Salsa the night away. Entertainment is free and begins at 7:00PM.

July 13th – Raquet Club at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Racquet Club is back and at it. Come see them rock out at White Eagle Hall as they announce their debut album. Fans of their previous group Knapsack will still love the sound but will be pleasantly surprised with some musical additions.

July 14th – Hamilton Leithauser at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam are set to perform their collaborative album. The work showcases each of their styles while also bringing them to new heights when the sounds are clashed together. Critics say to be ready for an “entirely unexpected and innovative style”.

July 17th – Counterfeiters at Pier A—Party with Purpose 5K After Party {Pier A, Hoboken}

Running and rocking out? This event has it! Come join in the fun after the race (didn’t run—we don’t judge! Still come anyway) and rock out with the Counterfeiters Cover Band. $5 to attend and $5 drinks.

July 17 – Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

A new album with over a dozen original songs—Chuck honors the life and death of rock and rolls best. His lead single is a timely homage to the greats lost in 2016. Head on over to Monty Hall in time for doors to open at 7:30. Tickets begin at $15.

July 18th – Live At Brennan’s {583 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

The show is going to feature a flamenco band with dancers and there will also be a Brazilian singer. The doors open at 6:30PM. The ticket price includes light fare (paella) and refreshments. Buy tickets here.

July 18th – Electric Six at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

If fans can’t wait until the Oct 6th launch date of their new album, Electric Six will be sharing their new tunes this summer. Check out songs with themes of mortality, death, discorporation and discoloration that is actually a “work of art and labor of love”. Tickets run from $13-$15 and doors open at 8:00PM.

July 19th – ALEO Productions presents The Paul Simon Engagement in Sinatra Park {Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

Gather with the city of Hoboken to celebrate the music of Paul Simon. This now annual event gathers all who are working to build the music architecture of Hoboken. The event is free and the fun starts at 7:00PM.

July 20th – Reigning Sound at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

Back for the first time since 2009 with their new album Shattered, Reigning Sound is hitting the stage. With just 11 songs on their new album, this night will share some fresh stuff as well as their classics. Tickets are $15 and the doors to the venue open at 8:00PM.

July 21st – The Mixtape at FM {3rd Street, Jersey City}

Jersey City’s newest Hip Hop show has begun. Performances by Chris Rockwell and the Ballroom Riot, Jay Hollin, Frankie Metalz, Johnny Wolf, and more. Must be 21+ to enter. Tickets are $5 at the door.

July 22nd – Disco Tribute ft. Dancin’ Machine {704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken}

To all the ‘dancing machines’ out there, this one’s for you. Dancin’ Machine was formed back in 2009 with the sole purpose of re-creating the experience of a 1970’s Discotheque for Disco fans everywhere. They are headed to Hoboken for the first night of the St. Ann’s Feast. Grab your spot on the dance floor at 8:00PM right in front of St. Ann’s Church.

July 23rd – The Lords of 52nd Street at St. Ann’s Feast {704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken}

Calling all Billy Joel fans. The Lords of 52nd Street is coming to the annual St. Ann’s Feast to honor one of America’s most iconic musicians, Billy Joel. Meet them on the main stage at 8:00PM to belt out the lyrics to the greatest hits.

July 24th – Latin Night at St. Ann’s Feast {704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken}

Another chance to salsa in July and we are here for it. Call on your favorite dancing partner and hop on over to the main stage of the St. Ann’s Feast for a night with La Orquesta Caribena. Music and dancing begin at 8:00PM

July 25th – Motown Night at St. Ann’s Feast {704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken}

Dr. K’s Motown Revue is bringing back one of the most popular sounds in American history. Relive the best of the 1960’s on the main stage of the St. Ann’s Feast at 8:00PM.

July 26th – Italian Night at the St. Ann’s Feast {704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken}

There can’t be an Italian Festival without some classic Italian tunes. Emil Stucchio & The Classics has it covered. This Brooklyn native group will perform all of the classics and even include some of their own originals. Main stage (St. Ann’s church) at 8:00PM.

July 26th – Oshun at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Bringing a different sound to the White Eagle Hall stage, Oshun is a hip-hop/ soul duo that has combined digital and acoustic sounds since their debut in 2015. Join these international stars to for a night of Afrofuturism.

July 26th – The Guitar Bar All-Stars perform the songs of Tom Petty in Sinatra Park {Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

It’s not every day the opportunity to break a world-record presents itself. On this day, take on the challenge. Gathered in Sinatra Park to enjoy the tunes and hopefully, witness history with the most guitars to be played on one single song. The event is set to start at 6:30PM but be sure to come early and sign in if you would like to participate.

July 27th – Howlin Rain at Monty Hall {43 Montgomery Street, Jersey City}

For those looking for unapologetic rock n’ roll, this is the show to attend. Rocking out for over a decade, Howlin Rain doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Gather at Monty Hall for the doors to open at 8. Tickets run from $12-$14.

This venue has concerts going on all the time. If you head to their website you can see the calendar of whose playing and purchase tickets.

Wine and Whiskey Lounge Grove Square {116 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Choose any night of the weekend (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) to enjoy a variety of live musical performers.

PJ Ryan’s {4 Path Plaza, Jersey City}

One of the most serious live music venues in Jersey City will have you dancing the night away.

Iron Monkey {99 Greene Street, Jersey City}

Iron Monkey is a place for all karaoke lovers. Saturdays from 10:00PM-2:00AM is your time to shine.

J.C. Underground {116 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Monday’s is Piano Bar Night here. Request any song and their live pianist will play it on a baby grand piano. Pretty sweet!

On Wednesdays, anything goes! From 7-12:30, be surprised with the musical genre of the night. A variety ranges from jazz to rat pack and burlesque to pop.

Meet others in the industry from 9:30PM to 1:30AM every Sunday. During karaoke or a live DJ, enjoy the complimentary buffet and $4 drink menu.

On Saturdays, it’s a full night of music and fun. Starting at 7:00PM, Big Bruce and the Messengers provide a nice mix of old school R&B, Pop Classic Soul, and Motown. Directly following at 10:30PM, a Top 40 DJ starts spinning the heat with the best on the charts as well as old-school R&B and Euro house.

FM Bar {3rd Street, Jersey City}

Open Mic Mondays. Showcase new talent every Monday at this musical powerhouse of a venue. Each week a different special guest is in the house for feedback. A full backline, guitar and bass amps, and drum kit are available for use. Please bring your own cymbals if needed.

Fridays in the Summertime are for dancing, drinks, and food. Head to Brewshot in Jersey City every Friday from 10pm-2am for their DJ nights and specials.

McSwiggans Pub {110 1st Street, Hoboken}

Enjoy live music and great bar eats every Monday and Wednesday at this local pub.

The Turtle Club {936 Park Avenue, Hoboken}

Catch live music here on Thursdays as well while sipping on wine (bottles are 25% off on Thursdays). Then, keep the party going through the whole weekend with beats by DJ Ralph Monte on Fridays at 10:00PM and a rotation of live DJs every Saturday starting at 10:00PM as well.
