Music is a universal language that everyone can understand and enjoy.  Now that March is just about here, many of us can break free of our winter hibernation and finally get back out and enjoy some live music {versus staying at home and watching music videos online — we’ve been there}.  Check out the list below of upcoming music events around town this March.

March 5th — The Akin Backbeat at 8:00PM @ Fox & Crow

Club Pilates 2023

With 25 years of experience under his belt, Craig Akin is leading a powerful new Trio, The Akin Backbeat, and they will be in Jersey City this month. Expect to hear originals from Craig mixed in with classic favorites from James Brown, Bill Withers, Ray Charles, and more. The show will begin at 8:00PM at Fox & Crow. March 6th — Playful Banter at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

This NJ-native, singer-songwriter duo consists of Kimberly Sanchez and Alexis von Aulock. The pair have been playing together since meeting at an open-mic in 2015. They fell in love with each other’s style and knew that it would be a perfect fit. They are able to take everyone’s favorite hits, add their flare and make audiences fall in love all over again. The show will begin at 10:00PM and will be held at Fox & Crow.

March 6th — Green Knuckle Material & B. Chaps at 10:30PM @ Willie McBride’s

March 6th — Castles in the Sky at 9:30PM @ Elysian Café

This NJ/PA duo offers hope through their music and aims to inspire audiences with every performance. They will be taking the stage at Elysian Café on March 6th. The show will begin at 9:30PM and pairs perfectly with a delicious dinner. For more information, click here.

March 6th — Groove at 9:30PM @ Dino & Harry’s

March 6th — Lloyd United at 10:00PM @ Finnegan’s Pub

Self-described as “One part pop ukulele outfit, one part hooligan prog-rock experience, and one part beer-soaked Irish drinking song mob, Lloyd United blends unique singing and songwriting talent with a party-til-you-drop attitude,” Lloyd United promises a great time with even better music. March 7th — LifeSpeed at 11:00PM @Willie McBride’s

Celebrate Hoboken LepreCon 2020 at Willie McBride’s with live music from LifeSpeed. With nearly two decades of experience, Lifespeed truly understands the cover scene in New Jersey and is ready to keep the party going in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The show will begin at 11:00PM. March 7th — The Toll Collectors at 10:00PM @ Finnegan’s Pub

Join local band, The Toll Collectors, this month at Finnegan’s Pub. Based in Hoboken, the band—made up of Christina Alessi, Jonathan Andrew, Josh Bicknell, Sean-David Cunningham, Mari Byrd Hubley, and Ty Tuschen — has a smooth and sultry sound inspired by various artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Sia, and Dean Martin. March 7th — LaFolie Austral at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

LaFolie Austral is a band that unites the vast sonic landscape of South America, then processes it through a contemporary alternative lens. Their current surroundings in the U.S. influence their current music-making for an international sound. The show will start at 10:00PM at Fox & Crow.

March 12th — James Calleo at 8:00PM @ Fox & Crow

Combine a background in yoga with a killer musical instinct and you’ll get James Calleo. He was inspired at a young age by folk, rock music and has not looked back since. March 12th  — OnStage at Stevens: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at DeBaun Performing Arts Center

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall — experience them all with the NJSO Chamber Players. Accompanied by the NJSO String Ensemble, four virtuosic violinists each take a solo, bringing Vivaldi’s iconic The Four Seasons to life. Hear instantly recognizable melodies, learn about the music through onstage discussion, and feel the character of each season in this classic work. March 13th — Greg Humphreys at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

Singer-songwriter, Greg Humphreys, has been making music with his Electric Trio in the area since 2013 and has taken local gigs by storm. March 13th — Everglow: Everlasting Tour in USA at 7:30PM @ White Eagle Hall

Alt-Pop duo, Everglow, are bringing their performance to Jersey City. After releasing its debut single in March 2014, Everglow has been touring the country, creating a loyal fan-base and collecting countless awards along the way. March 14th — Almost Easy at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

Almost Easy is dedicated to bringing audiences the freshest hit songs and beloved classics with intense performances and epic sound. The band consists of seasoned musicians who have been getting crowds to their feet for years. Join Almost Easy at Willie McBride’s this month. March 14th — James Gibbs III at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

James Gibbs III is a trumpeter, educator, composer, producer, bandleader, and multi-instrumentalist who is currently touring with nine-time Grammy nominee Joe Thomas. His music has been influenced by other notable musicians like Miles Davis, Clark Terry and many more. James performs various styles of music from originals, to covers ranging in forms from Rock, R&B, Jazz, to country, and classical. He will take the stage at Fox & Crow at 10:00PM on March 14th.  March 15th — The Grand Adventures: Creative Mixer at 1:00PM @ Belo Bar

Belo Bar is hosting a night for all types of artists. Listen to live music while sipping on drinks and munching on food. Hear the hottest beats from Leeroy Green, DjDugspin and DJ McRican who will all be on the 1s and 2s this month. March 17th — Kelli Bruno at 7:00PM at Crossroads

Celebrate one of Hoboken’s favorite holidays with Kelli Bruno at her favorite location in town — Crossroads. Kelli is a Hoboken resident who loves “a good beer and a good time.” Her music is grounded in folk with flares of indie and pop, while her cover repertoire spans the decades from jazz standards and classic rock, to R&B and today’s pop. March 20th — Ted Chubb Band at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

Drawing his main inspiration from a quote by a music teacher, “gratified, never satisfied,” Ted Chubb is constantly evolving and learning as an artist and his music reflects it. March 20th — Pentley Holmes Trio at 10:00PM @ Finnegan’s Pub

After surviving a typically fatal brain aneurysm, Pentley Holmes wrote music that beautifully depicts this experience in his debut album “Rip My Heart Out,” which has captured the hearts of audiences. He will be performing at Finnegan’s Pub on March 20th at 10:00PM. The performance will include Pentley on vox/guitar, Warren Snead on bass and Daniel Gonzalez {Drumiel} on drums. March 20th — Radio Stranger at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Radio Stranger writes and performs their unique mix of eclectic, acoustic, pop music. Their music is folk-rock, with a little country mixed into jazzier arrangements with pop sensibility, creating songs that people want to listen to + sing along with. Alex Tea is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and artist living in Jersey City. His live ensembles play selections from his various original projects, spanning roots reggae, MPB, funk, soul and folk music. The performance will start at 10:00PM at Fox & Crow. March 27th — Leni Stern at 10:00PM @ Fox & Crow

Incorporating West African sounds with her decades of jazz experience creates a one-of-a-kind sound by Leni Stern. Leni has recorded and released 21 albums in her career and is continuing to captivate audiences globally. Her performance will begin at 10:00PM at Fox & Crow on March 27th. March 27th — The Slackers at 8:30PM @ White Eagle Hall

The Slackers is an American band who has been taught by Jamaican ska/reggae experts and draws inspiration from genres including blues, rock, reggae, soul, and RnB. The band has been making music since 1996 and continues to release singles that incorporate all influences. They are bringing their show to White Eagle Hall on March 27th at 8:30PM. March 27th — The Schwam at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

The Schwam is an independent rock/ska/punk band based in Paramus, New Jersey.  The Schwam credits their sound to their inspirations that include Led Zeppelin, Sublime, and Foo Fighters as well as the uniqueness of each band member.
