#HudsonGives is back for its fourth annual 24-hour fundraiser. Beginning at midnight on May 12th, the Hudson County community will have a chance to band together to support local non-profits and charities committed to improving Hudson County and beyond. The initiative’s slogan — “Together, we thrive” — hopes to capture the spirit of the event as well as the impact it intends to have. Read on to find out more about #HudsonGives 2022.

Background Behind #HudsonGives

#HudsonGives was started in 2019 by The Hudson County Chamber Foundation, Inc. The Chamber Foundation was founded only 2 years earlier back in 2017. It’s an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to support the local economy through various initiatives, specifically focusing on aiding small- and medium-sized businesses and non-profits in the area.

#HudsonGives was the first major initiative of the Chamber Foundation and has been a booming success. In the first year alone, #HudsonGives partnered with 80 non-profits and raised $127,097 by engaging 1,207 donors from the wider community, according to the Chamber Foundation website. In 2020, proceeds more than doubled and the event raised $342,256.

#HudsonGives will take place entirely online beginning at 12:00AM on May 12th and will have fundraising opportunities and competitions for a full 24 hours. Various prizes are to be awarded to non-profits with great donor turnout, cultivating a fun and competitive spirit to try to entice everyone to support their favorite causes.

There will also be multiple time slots throughout the day — as well as ongoing opportunities — for any donations to be matched.

Some participating non-profits include: WomenRising, Inc., Jersey City Write to the Goal, Mile Square Theatre, The Learning Suite, Inc., Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention, and more.

There’s also an opportunity for pet parents to submit their pets for a chance to be the #HudsonGives 2022 mascot. For readers who would like to enter, you can post a picture of your pet on social media (with their name included, of course) and tag the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce using the hashtag #HudsonGives. You have until 8:00PM on May 11th to apply to the Pet Parade Contest, and if your pet is chosen, you get to pick your favorite #HudsonGives non-profit and it will automatically receive a $250 donation.

To keep the charitable spirit going even after May 12th, we’ve also compiled a list of awesome non-profits that accept donations year-round. Any omissions on this list are not intentional; to suggest an additional non-profit for us to add, please email hello@hobokengirl.com.
