    Calling all runners, wannabe runners, and people who just want to be part of a good cause — the annual HoBOOken 5k is taking place on Saturday, October 28, at 10AM, and will benefit the Hoboken Shelter. Last year, with more than 1,700 {costumed} participants, the Shelter raised over $60,000. And this year, Hoboken Girl is entering its very own team and we want YOU to run with us to help the shelter achieve its $65,000 goal. {Plus, a little cardio to kick off Halloweekend will make you feel a whole lot better about all the candy coming your way.}

    Now, a little about the Hoboken Shelter — since 1982, the Hoboken Shelter has served over two million meals and has helped thousands of homeless individuals find permanent housing solutions. They shelter 50 people nightly, serve 500 meals daily, and provide support in case management, counseling, job + life skills training, and other services. The HoBOOken 5k and Scary Scurry Kids’ Run event is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. Not only do the participants get a fast, flat course {hello, PR} with an incredible skyline view and a packed crowd to cheer them on, they also get an after party on the pier with all kinds of great vendors and swag. Oh, and they get to do it all in costume {because, Halloween}.

    Register HERE {password: WeRunHoboken / discount code: HOBOKENGIRL} to run with Team HG and keep an eye out for an email with all the info! See you at the race!

    Michele mostly writes about her two favorite things - people and food. Though she’s been a Jersey girl since her mother danced on a chair at a Bruce Springsteen concert while 8-months pregnant, Michele’s life is anything but basic. During the day, she's a payroll specialist for small + local businesses, but on the nights and weekends, she's trying new places to write about and stopping for snacks along the way {so it's a good thing she's a marathoner and soccer player}. Aside from adding to her already extensive collection of throw pillows, Michele enjoys a good beer, nachos, and chillin’ with her kitties, Bo and Samson.
