Cities throughout the state are gearing up to host all kinds of celebrations, and of course, Hoboken is getting in on the action. The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Business Alliance (HBA) just released details for its “Big Match Block Parties,” a series of citywide events (AKA 13 rotating block parties around the Mile Square) with soccer-themed entertainment and programming from Saturday, June 13th to Sunday, July 19th, 2026. About the Hoboken Big Match Block Parties
The Hoboken Big Match Block Party series is a citywide celebration of the World Cup featuring 13 rotating block parties over the course of the games. Festivities include watch parties on large screens, soccer-based games + activities, family-friendly programming, food + drinks, and plenty of local businesses.
The event series will feature six fan zones that rotate across different Hoboken neighborhoods. The zone locations are as follows:
- Zone 1: First Street between Washington Street and Garden Street
- Zone 2: 10th Street between Park Avenue and Willow Avenue, Garden Street and Bloomfield Street, and Bloomfield Street and Washington Street
- Zone 3: Grand Street between 14th and 15th Streets, including under the Viaduct
- Zone 4: 14th Street between Bloomfield Street and Washington Street, and between Washington Street and Hudson Street
- Zone 5: Sinatra Drive between First Street and Fourth Street
- Zone 6: Adams Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street
There are also several Hoboken restaurants, shops, and more holding special deals, events, and discounts in celebration of the World Cup. For more information, visit here.
How It Works
Hoboken’s Big Match Block Parties will be held in their respective zones with a variety of entertainment features. According to the City of Hoboken’s website, “the rotating series of neighborhood block-party watch events will include large screen live match viewing, interactive soccer games and activities for fans of all ages, family-friendly programming, outdoor dining and beverage service, community gathering spaces, and local restaurant and retail participation.”
Residents and commuters should consider that transit routes may be affected by the block parties.
