That’s right — not only is Hoboken Mutzfest happening in May this year, but it could also be the last Mutzfest to eat all the local cheese. Though usually held in the winter, in honor of its 10th anniversary, Mutzfest is hosting a special May event on Sunday, May 15th from 1PM – 5PM. As big mutz lovers ourselves, Mutzfest in May came as a wonderful surprise — though its potential ending makes it bittersweet. Mutzfest 2022 will feature the usual traditions of the decade-long event, plus some new twists, according to its website. Read on for everything we know about Hoboken Mutzfest 2022 and its possible conclusion.

The (Potential) Final Mutzfest

Mutzfest is organized by the Hoboken Family Alliance, one of the oldest Hoboken non-profits, and proceeds from the event will help fund its numerous local community initiatives, one of which is the Hoboken Bike Camp for individuals with disabilities. While in previous years it has been hosted both at indoor facilities and more recently as a ‘crawl,’ this year will be located under the 14th St. Viaduct and will be an entirely outdoor event to remain as safe as possible.mozzarella cheese tomato hoboken mutzfest

Hoboken Mutzfest is a chance for the community to come together over a shared NJ love: mozzarella cheese. And though Mutzfest is saying this might be the last hurrah, the organizers promised that they will find other ways to keep the mutz spirit and communal connection alive.

“We love the energy and community that Mutzfest has created,” Mutzfest revealed in a statement. “But after this one, we are going to assess how to continue so we can support our generous participants in the way that they have supported us.”

In honor of what may be the last year, Mutzfest is hoping to make this year a blowout. The event will be packed with lots of activities for the whole family. Attendees can expect to experience the usual — the cannoli-eating contest and Sinatra Sing-A-Long. The event will also feature a roster of five amazing delis: M&P Biancamano, Vito’s Italian Deli, Tony Boloney’s, Dolce & Salato, and Veloce Specialty Sandwiches. There will also be live music, a beer + wine garden in partnership with Carpe Diem, and special guests appearing.

Tickets for the event can be found here. General admission to this cheese-filled day is $50. Attendees who purchased their tickets online will be on a list at the door, so don’t expect to receive a physical ticket for this event. For 21+ visitors who are feeling extra special, there is also a $75 VIP option which gets you into Mutzfest at 12PM instead of 1PM as well as grants you access to an open bar.
