Many of us will be clearing out of Hudson County over Labor Day weekend to enjoy the surf, sun, and sand one last time before the unofficial end of summer. However, for the rest of those who will be staying in town, there are plenty of places to enjoy a day off of work and school on Monday and extend the weekend. Note that as Labor Day is a Federal holiday, pretty much all government facilities, banks, post offices, and public libraries will be closed Monday {alternate side parking regulations for street cleaning is suspended, too}. But keep reading for a list of spots open on Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd, 2019 in Hoboken and Jersey City.

The Ainsworth {310 Sinatra Drive}
Open on Labor Day, normal hours from 11:00AM-12:00AM for lunch and dinner {mac and cheese fries} with trivia at 8:00PM and mojito specials — $8 glasses, $30 pitchers all flavors.
The Ale House {1034 Willow Avenue}
This dog-friendly neighborhood bar on 11th + Willow will be open. Enjoy free pool everyday, shuffleboard, darts, and popcorn. Open all weekend with regular hours 5:00PM-2:00AM with happy hour specials: $5 select personal pitchers, $10 any IPA + Jameson shot, and $5 Kona drafts.
Anthony David’s {953 Bloomfield Street}
Italian classics and new creations, made with seasonal, local ingredients, strong flavors, and simple, honest presentation, are served in a relaxed, totally refreshed and expanded new setting. Join them for normal hours with brunch from 9:00AM-3:00PM, Merenda {or snack time} from 3:00PM-5:00PM, and dinner from 5:00PM-10:00PM.
Baja Mexican Cuisine {104 14th Street}
Open normal hours over the weekend, they will also be open at 12:00PM on Monday to enjoy a taste of the southwest for lunch. happy hour is from 4:00PM-7:00PM featuring $5 Margaritas, $4 Mexican beers, and $5 Smirnoff Sours mix drinks. Come and discover their large selection of tequila and their famous Tequila Boat – choose four different shots of tequila half price from the regular bar menu.

Bin 14 {1314 Washington Street}
Hoboken’s first and only wine bar, the restaurant features a contemporary blend of upscale Italian tapas in an industrial-chic space with exposed brick walls, tin molded ceilings, and a marble top bar. It is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner starting at 11:00AM with their everyday happy hour running from 4:00PM-6:00PM. Burger Mondays, enjoy a $6 glass of wine with any juicy burger.
Black Bear Bar + Grill {205 Washington Street}
This All-American Sports bar and restaurant in the heart of downtown Hoboken. It will be open normal business hours on Labor Day with drink specials on Monday which include $7 Make Your Own Bloody Mary Bar, $4 margaritas, $4 Corona Light bottles, and $14.99 pitcher of margaritas. Kids also eat free on Mondays.
The Brass Rail {135 Washington Street}
The Brass Rail is a landmark restaurant restored to its original early 1900’s elegance and has an extensive wine program as well as a premium-only bar featuring the world’s best spirits and cordials. They are open regular hour, serving brunch from 11:30AM-3:00PM on Monday, in addition to their regular happy hour from 4:00PM-7:00PM with half-priced drafts and wine. Come on Moody Monday for 1/2 price bottles of select wine with the purchase of dinner entrée from 5:00PM-close, $5 select Martinis from 7:00PM-close, and a $35 prix fixe dinner all night.
Carpe Diem {1405 Grand Street}
Come in for Irish specialties like Shepherd’s Pie and Fish and Chips, open all on Labor Day. On Monday they open at 4:00PM, with happy hour running from 4:00PM-8:00PM.

This American bistro located in Uptown Hoboken is a three-floor restaurant, bar, and lounge will be open normal hours from 11:00AM-1:00AM, with rooftop open all day.
Cork City {239 Bloomfield Street}
Hoboken’s beer haven will be open Monday at 2:00PM with $6 wines. Grab one of 93 brews, throw some darts or simply relax by the fireplace.
Court Street Restaurant + Bar {61 6th Street}
Open all weekend, come in on Labor Day and enjoy Monday on Prime Rib night. Free parking at meters.
Elysian Cafe {1001 Washington Street}
The oldest continually operated bar/restaurant in Hoboken, Elysian offers a French Bistro-style menu and is Hoboken’s first 100% smoke-free bar. The spot is open Labor Day for brunch from 10:00AM-3:00PM, followed by their super special deal: two for one from the bar menu from 5:00PM-11:00PM. The dinner menu is also available along with the bar menu from 5:00PM-10:00PM.
Farside Tavern {531 Washington Street}
Home of Arsenal soccer, Farside Tavern will be open from 11:00AM-2:00AM on Labor Day, with happy hours specials until 7:00PM: $5 wines, $1 off apps, $4 bottled beers, $6 call drinks, $5 well drinks, $1 off drafts, and $7 Long Islands.
The Ferryman on 1st {94 Bloomfield Street}
Hoboken’s exclusive Irish Pub is serving drink specials on Monday from 3:00PM-2:00AM with $10 fishbowl cocktails.
House of ‘Que {340 Sinatra Drive}
Grab a taste of Austin, while never leaving Jersey and celebrate Labor Day weekend BBQ style on the Hudson. On Monday check out their lunch specials from 11:00AM-3:00PM {brisket or pulled pork sandwich and a side all for $12.25}
La Isla {25 12th Street and 104 Washington Street}
Get a taste of Cuba on Labor Day. Open regular for hours downtown with breakfast from 7:00AM-11:00AM, lunch/dinner from 11:00AM-10:00PM. The uptown location is open for dinner only from 5:00PM-10:00PM and happy hour drink specials and $5 bar menu from 4:00PM-7:00PM and Mojito Monday for half price mojitos all day.
Los Charrito’s {518 Washington Street}
The authentic Mexican restaurant is open regular hours for brunch, lunch, and dinner from 11:30AM-10:00PM. Note, it is no longer B.Y.O.B., they are now serving a limited liquor menu, which includes different flavored margaritas, sangrias, and mojitos.
Madd Hatter Bar + Restaurant {221 Washington Street}
Madd Hatter Hoboken is a premier sports bar offering 40+ big-screen TVs, projection TVs surrounding an enormous island bar. They are regular hours from 11:00AM-2:00AM, with Labor Day specials $3 domestic beer, $5 craft beers, $6 mixed drinks, $7 wine glass, $9 bud light pitcher, half off all appetizers. The Madison Bar and Grill {1316 Washington Street}
This bustling roadhouse-style new American fare space will be open on Monday. Get their first seating menu all night long, which features a three-course dinner menu at $20.19 per person, with discounted wine accompaniments.
Mikie Squared {616 Washington Street}
The neighborhood bar and grill will be open for brunch on Labor Day from 10:00AM-3:00PM, along with serving half off drinks and dinner, including half-price sangria all day, mimosa flights, and a specialty mimosa menu.
Onieal’s {343 Park Avenue}
Set on a quiet corner off Church Square Park, Onieal’s offers a rousing but comfortable scene, with outdoor seating. It is open on Monday from 11:30AM-5:00PM for lunch and 5:00PM-11:00PM for dinner, with happy hour specials from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the bar only.
Pilsener Haus + Biergarten {1422 Grand Street}
An Austro-Hungarian restaurant and bar set in a turn of the century Bierhall with an adjoining, outdoor Biergarten, will be open at 1:00PM on Monday, serving brunch from 1:00PM-4:30PM, and the grill will be going all day long.
The Sheperd and the Knucklehead {1313 Willow Avenue}
This locale will be open Labor Day for normal hours with happy hour Monday from 3:00PM-7:00PM {$2 off all craft beer, wine, cocktails and spirits, $15 sangria pitchers, 75 cent wings, and $2 off orders of tacos and sliders, buckets of prosecco splits, 4, $27}. Open on Monday from 4:00PM-12:00AM. They will have 50% off sparkling wines and oysters.
Union Hall {306 Sinatra Drive}
The American Gastropub on the waterfront will be open normal hours on Labor Day from 11:30AM-1:00AM with select lunch additions and big drinks available. Try one of their 50 wines by the bottle and an additional 25 by the glass. Step up to the bar for a classic cocktail or a handcrafted seasonal drink. Beer lovers will want to try their very own “Union Brew” ale $2 mugs. Happy hour specials run from 4:00PM-7:00PM and include half-price wines and half-priced drafts all night. Urban Coalhouse Pizza + Bar {116 14th Street}
Specialty pies, cocktails, and beers draw crowds to this festive joint with TVs and exposed–brick walls. It will be open for regular hours with a Monday brunch from 11:00AM-4:00PM.
Wicked Wolf Tavern {120 Sinatra Drive}

Zafra {301 Willow Avenue}
The Cuban-Latino restaurant is open on Labor Day for brunch from 10:00AM-3:00PM and then for dinner from 3:00PM-10:00PM. The restaurant is BYOB so bring beer, wine, or liquor and they can make mimosas, margaritas, mojitos, and sangria.
Jersey City
The Ashford {145 Newark Avenue}
Jersey City’s hot spot for dining, drinks, and sports with a rooftop and raw bar, they will be open Monday from 11:30AM-2:00AM.
Astor Bar {725 Montgomery Street}
Family run since 1956, the local neighborhood bar serves pizza and home-cooked weekday lunch. Fresh specials change daily. It will be open for normal hours all weekend long from 9:00AM-2:00AM.
Atlas Public House {130 Newark Street}
Brunch at the modern gastropub will be served all weekend Reservations are suggested. To make a reservation call 201-479-8353. Enjoy a beer and snack in their front bar, have an intimate dinner in their beautiful dining room or stop in for dessert and coffee.
Bobby Dee’s JC {49 Beacon Avenue}
An old dive bar in Jersey City with food, music, sports, and good times. It will be open Monday, 4:00PM-2:00AM with happy hour specials from 4:00PM-7:00PM including $3 bottles or cans of beer and $3 well drinks.
Corkscrew Bar + Grill {61 Congress Street}
Located in The Heights of Jersey City, this is the bar with drinks, trivia, nine flat screens, and grub open for normal hours from 3:00PM-2:00AM with happy hour specials from 3:00PM-7:00PM. Enjoy $2 off all beers, $1 off all house liquor and wines, and $2 pints of PBR and Yuengling. They will also have their $12 burger and beer specials all day.
JSQ Lounge {50 Journal Square}
A Jersey City cocktail bar, by Jersey City, for Jersey City, directly across from the Journal Square PATH station. It will be open 11:00AM-2:00AM on Labor Day with happy hour specials from 3:00PM-6:00PM including $6 margaritas, $5 Manhattan, Old Fashioned and well drinks, and $1 off all wine and beer.
Left Bank Burger Bar {194 Newark Avenue}
Open Monday from 11:30AM-10:00PM, with drink specials all day. For just $10, get the ultimate Bloody Mary, garnished with smoked bacon and a cheeseburger slider.
Light Horse Tavern {199 Washington Street}
Named after Henry Lee III or “Light Horse Harry,” who as part of the Continental Army, Harry led his men in a surprise attack in Paulus Hook, New Jersey, capturing 400 British soldiers. The tavern will be open normal hours Monday from 11:30AM-3:30PM for lunch, 5:00PM-10:00PM for dinner and brunch all weekend. The bar is open from 11:30AM-close.
LITM {140 Newark Avenue}
Jersey City’s neighborhood destination for creative seasonal cocktails, award-winning American food, and the local art and film scene is open from 5:00PM-12:00AM on Monday. Happy hour is until 7:00PM every day with $5 Dogfish beers, Original Sin Ciders, $6 wines and well drinks, $7 martinis.
The Lutze {3 2nd Street}
Jersey City’s outdoor waterfront venue is open every day of the Labor Day weekend, they will also be hosting their 3rd Annual Lutze Rescue Event–three days of adoptable dogs and discounted specialty Tito’s vodka cocktails, as well as all summer beers discounted to $7 draft and $20 pitchers. They open Monday from 12:00PM-10:00PM.
Mathews Food and Drink {351 Grove Street}
Mathew’s is a lively neighborhood restaurant serving seasonal American fare, craft cocktails, and beer. Don’t forget to stop by on Labor Day for happy hour 4:00PM-7:00PM. It is open at 11:00AM for lunch and 5:00PM for dinner.

For those who need to get a little workout in between all this eating and drinking, Crunch Hoboken will have holiday hours on Monday open from 7:00AM-7:00PM, the New York Sports Club’s uptown + downtown Hoboken locations will both be open 5:30AM-5:00PM, Urban Souls Yoga will be holding two special Labor Day classes from 10:00AM-11:00AM {yoga all levels} and a meditation from 11:10AM-11:40AM, and Hudson Yoga Project will have one 75-minute mixed level class at 11:00AM.
