Running for 20 weeks, classes will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM this fall. Classes are free for members and just $200 total for non-members. This introduction will focus on the “hows” and “whys” of Judaism and cover core concepts, master stories, key figures, Jewish theology and history, prayer + much more.

Run the Skyline 5K

Run the Skyline 5K will take place on September 22nd at Lincoln Harbor Park in Weehawken at 9PM with check-in starting at 8:30PM. There is a $10 suggested donation, which will support Social Tees NYC Animal Rescue. A post-run social event will take place at House of Que at 10PM. The Skyline Run Club wishes to remind runners that the event is an unsanctioned 5K through the streets of Weehawken + Hoboken. There are no street closures and runners will assume all risks. 5K for Pizza

Saturday, September 25th | 8AM

Sign up for the 2nd Annual 5K for Pizza + 1 Mile Run in Hoboken on September 25th. The race begins at 10AM. Race packets can be picked up beginning at 8AM. Virtual Registration ends September 24th. The flat course will take runners along the Hoboken waterfront, and conclude at the finish line festival, where all participants will get to enjoy free pizza from local pizzerias. The sponsors for this year’s pizza festival are Napoli’s, Impostos, H&S Giovanni’s, Benny Tudinos, Torna’s, Tony Boloney’s, and Basile’s. A 1-mile course will also be offered. Registrants will be eligible for a minimum of 3 slices. The event will also be USA Track & Field sanctioned and professionally chip-timed with live results. Overall winners will receive a free pair of shoes from JackRabbit Hoboken. The in-person race is $36.50 while the virtual 5k is $33.49. The 1-mile run is $28. Learn more here.

Organizers will announce if the race will also take place in person. 2021 Tunnels to Towers 5K Run + Walk NYC

The 2021 Tunnels to Towers 5K Run + Walk NYC will take place on September 26th at 9:30AM in Brooklyn. The race will begin at 1 Beard Street. The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run + Walk in New York is held each year on the last Sunday of September. The event symbolizes Stephen Siller’s final footsteps from the foot of the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers and pays homage to the 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Proceeds from the event support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation programs, including those benefiting first responders, and severely injured service members. Learn more here.

Ways to Give Back Locally

Hudson County American Red Cross 

The American Red Cross has been ready to respond in times of disaster for decades—and the COVID-19 crisis is no different. More than ever, the American Red Cross is in need of volunteers to help us all get through this time together. While they have tons of different opportunities, the opportunity they are naming “most urgent” in the North Jersey area is as a Volunteer Driver. Drivers are needed to safely transport lifesaving blood from local blood drives to hospitals. Volunteers are asked to commit to two – four shifts per month with each shift being about four hours. All volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, at least 3 years of a clean driving record, and should be able to lift at least 45lbs. Learn more here.


Hoboken Shelter 

The Hoboken Shelter hosts 50 guests nightly and serves more than 1,000 meals throughout the week. As a full-service community partner, the Hoboken Shelter is a necessary resource within the neighborhood. The Shelter is always in need of donations and support to help keep its doors open and welcoming to its guests. This list is inclusive of tasks like donating some of the most needed items like toiletries, coffee, sugar, milk, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and paper products. The Shelter does have opportunities to host volunteers in-person from 11AM-2PM and 6PM-7PM. Please call before arriving as The Shelter can only host 1-2 in-person volunteers at a time due to social distancing guidelines. Learn more here.


Hoboken Family Alliance 

One of the oldest non-profits in Hoboken, the Hoboken Family Alliance is a resource for children and families in the Mile Square. HFA typically puts on various events and provides opportunities for children to learn and play in a safe environment while providing families with various needs, necessary resources. HFA has several opportunities for volunteering through its committees and sub-committees such as marketing, special needs, fundraising, and more.
