The Laugh Tour at The Brightside Tavern

Prime Cycle’s Pink Jar

For every rider who wears pink to class throughout the month of October, Prime Cycle will donate $1 to their pink jar. The pink jar will be on display at the desk all month for riders to make any donation of their own at any time. You do not have to wear pink to donate – all donations are welcome. Join them for  two breast cancer awareness rides scheduled and they will donate $5 for every person who rides. This year, Prime Cycle will raise money for Metastatic Breast Cancer Research at the Memorial Sloane Kettering and Dana Farber Institute in honor of Laura Nelson. Battle of the Booty Events + 2nd Annual Family Edition

Join Coach Lisa of The Inner Athlete for Battle of the Booty events. There will be an adult competition at various gyms and a family event. Both are donating 100% of the proceeds to the Hoboken Food Pantry and the American Legion Post 107 in Hoboken that provides housing for homeless veterans. The family-friendly event will be held at Maxwell Park and will start at 2PM. The adult competition will take place at various gyms. This year, Crossfit Hoboken, Hudson River Athletics, Brazen Athletics, The Fit Foundry, Prime Cycle, Jane Do and Project Sculpt are participating. Each gym will hold a 5-minute squat sesh and tally their totals for their gym. The gym with the highest squats, most donors and most money raised will receive the Buns of Steel Trophy. The man and woman with the most squats will also receive a Buns of Steel Trophy. Within the adult event, there will be a face-off between Hoboken Police and Hoboken Fire Department. Hudson River Athletics will be hosting the Hoboken Fire Departments team at 10AM and Crossfit Hoboken will be live streaming Hoboken Police at 11AM. Learn more here.

The Hudson County Fair returns to Braddock Park. Expect the usual rides and attractions, plus a midway of great games of skill and chance, and tons of delicious food. Plus there will be live entertainment on the big stage, including popular local band the Past Masters on Saturday, Oct. 9th for the Bruins/North Bergen alumni reunion. Love Your Body Virtual Race

October 10th-October 31st 

Join Moon Joggers for the Second Annual Love Your Body virtual race. 1 mile, 5k, 10k, 13.1, and 26.2 virtual races are available — you choose which distance you want to complete. You will receive a medal with a mirror on it that reads, “Remove the ‘I Want You to Like Me’ sticker from your forehead and place it on the mirror where it belongs.” a quote from Susan Jeffers. The race celebrates the beautiful and unique bodies we each have. Races can be completed anytime in October. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Moon Joggers will be donating at least 20% of each registration to The Pink Fund, an organization that provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatment for breast cancer, so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace. Little Hoboken’s Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

Little Hoboken is once again hosting their Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser all month long as well as the virtual silent auction which will be held on October 27th. More details will be posted on the auction — follow @littlehoboken on Instagram for updates. Additionally, they have teamed up with several local businesses to encourage spending in the community + donating. Sales of select items from the following businesses will help raise proceeds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Jersey City:

  • The Black Rail: 15% of pumpkin latte sales.
  • Blo It Out Lounge: 50% of pink clip in hair extension sales will be donated
  • Choc O Pain Bakery and Café will match 10% of all donations. Additionally, the bakery will be donating 10% of the rose lychee, raspberry, and violet cassis macarons all month long.
  • Emme & Max: 15% of hair accessories sales all month long will be donated.
  • The Green Room: A portion of the store’s sales of all pre-rolls in the month of October go to the team! (Plus, they’re in a super cute pink tube!)
  • House of Que will donate a portion of sales from its signature Fight Like a Mother Drink.
  • Little Hoboken will have new black leggings with hot pink “201” on the leg and grey with pink “Tough as a Mother” hoodies, and will donate 20% of the sales for each of these all month long to the team. And don’t worry if the store runs out, the team will take orders and get more. There will also be a donation jar IN-STORE ONLY for cash. All cash is donated to the team. Any donation of $20 or more will receive a free pink Fight Like a Mother tee while supplies last.

Moon Joggers honors all women who are courageously battling this disease. Artist Issa Sow will lead “Let’s Play Together,” a weekly creativity workshop for kids ages 3-11. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Held outside in the walkway by the Museum entrance, the program is designed to be inclusive of children around the entire neurodiversity spectrum. The American Red Cross has been ready to respond in times of disaster for decades, and the COVID-19 crisis is no different. More than ever, the American Red Cross is in need of volunteers to help us all get through this time together. While there are many different opportunities, the opportunity Named  “most urgent” in the North Jersey area is as a Volunteer Driver. Drivers are needed to safely transport lifesaving blood from local blood drives to hospitals. Volunteers are asked to commit to 2-4 shifts per month with each shift being about 4 hours. All volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, at least 3 years of a clean driving record, and should be able to lift at least 45lbs. Learn more here.
