The Laugh Tour at Dorrian’s Red Hand

Dorrian’s Red Hand, located at 555 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City, is hosting two comedy shows per night Saturday, November 6th and Saturday, November 20th at 7PM and 9PM. The Laugh Tour is hosted by comedian Rich Kiamco and will feature comedians from Netflix, The Tonight Show, America’s Got Talent, and more. Saturday’s show tickets purchased online in advance of the show are $15 and are $20 day of and at the door with a 2 item minimum per person. Food and drinks are available during the show. All indoor events will require proof of vaccination or 72-hour negative test with ID.

Hoboken Girl Teams + The Flow Initiative Hosting Annual Period Supply Drive — Now Through 11/15
When looking locally, a recent study by The Flow Initiative shares that approximately 30% of students in Hudson County face hardship when it comes to access to items such as pads, tampons, sanitary wipes, liners, and more each month. After a successful drive in 2020 that collected over 30,000 supplies, Hoboken Girl and The Flow Initiative have set a lofty goal:
To donate period supplies to at least one school or community center in all 11 towns that make up Hudson County this year. That means reaching last year’s number of 30,000 supplies or more. Learn more about the drive and how you can help here.

Hoboken Resident Hosting Moms Demand Action Charity Event After Surviving Shooting
Friday, Nov. 5th | 8PM
On November 5th at 8PM, Hoboken resident, Vincent Gazzani, will host a charity event at 80 River Bar and Kitchen to fundraise for Moms Demand Action. The charity is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. Gazzani was a victim of gun violence after a man went on a shooting rampage killing one and injuring four in San Diego in April 2021. Gazzani was shot 3 times and suffered from a collapsed lung, removal of his spleen and part of his stomach. As a survivor, he wants to spread awareness on gun violence. Learn more here.

True Mentors is Hoboken’s only one-to-one mentor program. The program matches children ages 7-17 with trained mentors. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and can sign up to be trained. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and must make at least a 1-year commitment to their mentee for a minimum of 8 hours per month. Learn more here.

The Hoboken Historical Museum was able to open during Phase two of the COVID-19 Reopening Plan. With the ability to accept a limited number of guests and to participate safely in city-wide events, the Hoboken Historical Museum is periodically in need of volunteers. Promise addresses homelessness by using the resources of volunteer congregations in Hoboken + Jersey City by providing space in their buildings to serve as temporary homes for homeless families. Each Family Promise affiliate also has a day center, where families can take showers, receive case management, and look for housing and jobs. Family Promise relies on volunteers to give their time, making meals, sharing hospitality, spending the night, playing with children, and lending their passion and expertise to help families get back on their feet.
