Hoboken Girl Teams + The Flow Initiative Hosting Annual Period Supply Drive — Now Through 11/15
When looking locally, a recent study by The Flow Initiative shares that approximately 30% of students in Hudson County face hardship when it comes to access to items such as pads, tampons, sanitary wipes, liners, and more each month. After a successful drive in 2020 that collected over 30,000 supplies, Hoboken Girl and The Flow Initiative have set a lofty goal:
To donate period supplies to at least one school or community center in all 11 towns that make up Hudson County this year. That means reaching last year’s number of 30,000 supplies or more. Learn more about the drive and how you can help here.
Hoboken Girl’s Best of Hoboken + Jersey City 2021 Guide
The nominations for The Hoboken Girl Best of Hoboken + Jersey City 2021 Guide have begun and will last until November 16, 2021. With over 100 categories for each city, readers can nominate as many businesses, people, and places for each respective category until the deadline. We also have many new categories for Hoboken and Jersey City including Best Tacos, Best Espresso Martini, + more. These reader-selected awards give businesses bragging rights for months to come. Finalists will win a decal sticker to display on their storefronts and accolades on our website for all to see.

Veteran’s Day Commemoration at Elysian Park

JDJ Charity Event at Alfalfa

Ways to Give Back Locally
Liberty Humane Society | Jersey City
The Liberty Humane Society is an open admission shelter contracted by Jersey City, Hoboken, and Bayonne to take in strays day or night, medically assess the animals, give them vaccinations and microchips, spay or neuter them, and gets them socially prepared for lifelong adoptions. Volunteers help the shelter run smoothly, increase adoptions, and help make the animals happier. Learn more here.
Computers 4 People | Hoboken
Computers 4 People, started by teenager Dylan Zajac, is dedicated to collecting and refurbishing technology to distribute to individuals and groups in need. Computers 4 People will accept items such as old desktop computers, laptops, hard drives, tablets, keyboards, monitors, and more. The organization also accepts monetary donations. Additionally, if volunteers have experience in refurbishing computers or can store items, help in those areas is needed. Learn more here.
The Hoboken Shelter | Hoboken
The Hoboken Shelter hosts 50 guests nightly and serves more than 1,000 meals throughout the week. As a full-service community partner, the Hoboken Shelter is a necessary resource within the neighborhood.
