Hoboken Business Alliance + Main Street Pops Present The Wild & Scenic Film Festival + Outdoor Earth Day Celebration
Hoboken Business Alliance and Main Street Pops present The Wild & Scenic Film Festival + Outdoor Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 30th at 770 Jackson Plaza in Hoboken. The event kicks off at 3:00PM with an outdoor earth day festival including a Green Artisan Market with local sustainable and up-cylced vendors, live music, nature-themed art classes, a live beekeeping demo, outdoor exercise demos, and composting 101 tips. Then, from 7:00PM-10:00PM, The Wild & Scenic Film Festival begins with FREE screenings of Mile in the Eye, a local film about Hoboken’s response to the pandemic with a Q&A panel featuring Mayor Bhalla and Melissa Gigante of the Hoboken Police Department, and Inspiring Adventure, a 90-minute collection of beautiful short films celebrating Earth’s beauty. This event is also sponsored by Hair Cult, GCM Homes, and Natural Awakenings Hudson County.

The Laugh Tour at Dorrian’s Red Hand

Dorrian’s Red Hand located at 555 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City is hosting two comedy shows on Saturday, April 16th at 7:00PM and 9:00PM. The Laugh Tour is hosted by comedian Rich Kiamco and will feature Fabrizio Copano from Comedy Central and HBO Latino, Caitlin Reese from Helium Comedy, Calvin Cato from RushTix, and Stephon Hightower from NY Comedy Festival. Show tickets purchased online in-advance of the show are $15 and are $20 day of and at the door with a 2 item minimum per person. Additional shows with other comedians to take place April-September. Clear The Wishlist Hygiene Drive For Hoboken Community Center’s Pantry
Ongoing until April 30th
During the month of April, The Hoboken Girl, along with the support of its readers, will be supporting the Hoboken Community Center (HCC) with a Clear the Wishlist initiative, focusing on replenishing the Pantry’s hygiene supplies. The wishlist is available via Amazon, meaning you can contribute supplies by barely lifting a finger. The items can be delivered directly to the Pantry, making the whole experience seamless.

Hope House, an emergency shelter for homeless women with children, helps families become self-sufficient by giving them an opportunity for decision-making and for assuming responsibility for improving their situation under the supervision, support, and guidance of shelter staff. Housing up to 20 mothers and their children, the program offers short-term supervised residence, including three meals a day, assessment/planning, case management, housing, education, food, and clothing. True Mentors | Hoboken
True Mentors is Hoboken’s only one-to-one mentor program. The program matches children ages 7-17 with trained mentors. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and can sign up to be trained. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and must make at least a 1-year commitment to their mentee for a minimum of 8 hours per month. Learn more here.
