January 1st is a special day in Hudson County {and not just because the street cleaning schedule is suspended}. There’s an exciting year ahead — full of residents’ New Year’s resolutions and new restaurants + shops to come. These local spots are open on the first holiday of 2020, so come celebrate the next decade around town. Find out what’s open for dining, shopping, drinking, and more in Hoboken + Jersey City on New Year’s Day 2020.

If You’re Looking to Dine in Hoboken…

Anthony David’s {953 Bloomfield Street}

AD’s will open at 5:00PM for New Year’s Day dinner, so rest up in the morning for a delicious meal. Book your reservation and dine as late as 9:30PM.

The Brass Rail knows how to brunch and it is serving up items from its regular menu from 11:30AM-4:00PM. They are also open for dinner reservations until 7:30PM. 

Hobbs Inc

Bin14 {1314 Washington Street}

This Hoboken staple is open from 5:00PM-10:00PM on New Year’s Day. Enjoy small plates and an intimate dinner uptown.

Carpe Diem {1405 Grand Street}

Cozy up by Carpe Diem’s fireplace on New Year’s Day. The Irish pub is open for normal hours from 4:00PM-2:00AM.

Charrito’s Midtown {518 Washington Street}

Check out Charrito’s for the holiday — the restaurant is open during its regular hours on Wednesday, from 11:30AM-10:00PM.

Elysian Cafe {1001 Washington Street}

French-inspired bistro Elysian cafe will be serving food on New Year’s Day from 12:00PM-9:30PM. 

La Isla {25 12th Street + 104 Washington Street}

Both La Isla locations will be open on New Year’s Day. The uptown location will be open from 10:00AM-3:00PM for brunch and 4:00PM-10:00PM for dinner, while the downtown location will be open from 9:00AM-10:00PM.

Margherita’s {740 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Margherita’s will be open this New Year’s Day for all of your Italian food cravings this year.

Napoli’s {133 Clinton Street +1118 Washington Street}

Both Napoli’s locations are open on New Year’s Day from 11:30AM-10:00PM, so Hoboken residents will be able to satisfy their pizza cravings.

Northern Soul {700 1st Street}

Northern Soul in downtown Hoboken will be open during its regular hours on New Year’s Day from 11:00AM-12:00AM. 

Saku {936 Park Avenue}

If sushi is what you’re craving, Saku is open for dinner on New Year’s Day from 5:00PM-10:00PM. Make your reservation here

Upscale seafood restaurant and critically acclaimed Battello will be open from 11:30AM-10:00PM for the holiday. 

The Hutton Bar & Grill {225 Hutton Street}

JC pub The Hutton is serving dinner from 4:00PM to 10:00PM on New Year’s Day.

The Kitchen Step {500 Jersey Avenue}

American fare restaurant Mathews will be open for lunch and dinner from 11:00AM-10:00PM on Wednesday, January 1st.

Head to downtown Jersey City for great Mexican fare from 11:30AM-6:00PM on New Year’s Day at Orale Mexican Kitchen.

Family-run JC restaurant Skinner’s Loft is open for dinner from 5:00PM-10:00PM during the holiday.

White Star Bar {230 Brunswick Street + 179 Warren Street}

White Star Bar will also open both locations’ doors for brunch at 11:00AM on New Year’s Day.
