Happy Birthday, America! The 4th of July in Hudson County is chock full of fun things to do — from carnivals, food trucks, and fireworks to hopping aboard a dinner cruise or dancing with Pitbull + Akon at Exchange Place Plaza. Plus, there’s free parking in Hoboken. Bless.

If you are staying in town this Thursday, July 4th, 2019 and are looking for places to celebrate our nation’s independence with family and friends, before or after a day sun tanning at Pier A or lounging at the pool, here’s a roundup of place in Hoboken + Jersey City that will be open on the 4th of July — 2019. Hoboken

The Ale House {1034 Willow Avenue, Hoboken}

This is a dog-friendly neighborhood bar on 11th + Willow that offers free pool every day, shuffleboard, darts, and popcorn. Opens at 5:00PM on the 4th. Specials include $5 well drinks, flavored vodka drinks, and $7 Ale House Mules. It’s also Ladies Night, so the ladies get 1/2 off well drinks, wines, and drafts.

Barbes Restaurant {1300 Park Avenue, Hoboken}

Bringing a bit of Paris to Hudson County, Hoboken’s only French-Moroccan experience 13th and Park Avenue in uptown Hoboken will be serving happy hour from 4:30PM-7:00PM and a late night happy hour from 10:00PM-11:00PM.

Hoboken’s first and only wine bar, the restaurant features a contemporary blend of upscale Italian tapas in an industrial-chic space with exposed brick walls, tin molded ceilings, and a marble top bar. Opens for lunch and dinner starting at 11:00AM with their everyday happy hour running from 4:00PM-6:00PM: $7 glasses of red, white, or rosé wine, $6 High Noon canned cocktails, and $4 Bartles + Jaymes canned cocktails.

Birch {92 River Street, Hoboken}

Home of the Crazy Milkshake and rosé, sangria, + mimosa alcohol infused gelato, Birch will be open from 12:00PM until 10:00PM with 1/2 priced drinks until 7:00PM. Have a sweet 4th.

Black Bear Bar + Grill {205 Washington Street, Hoboken}

This is an all-American sports bar and restaurant in the heart of downtown Hoboken. It will be open for normal business hours from 11:00AM to 2:00AM on the 4th with $4 Coors Light, $7 Jack Daniels drinks and $7 White Claw.

The Brass Rail {135 Washington Street, Hoboken}

The Brass Rail is a landmark restaurant restored to its original early 1900’s elegance and has an extensive wine program as well as a premium-only bar featuring the world’s best spirits and cordials.

There will be 4th of July drink specials all day. Get $5 mixed drinks all night and $4 shot specials in addition to their regular happy hour from 4:00PM-7:00PM with ½ priced drafts and wine.

Cadillac Cantina {80 River Street, Hoboken}

Celebrate the 4th of July a day early this year at Cadillac Cantina. On Wednesday, July 3rd, Cadillac Cantina will be hosting an epic Independence Day celebration with a taco eating contest to win great prizes, drink specials including $9 star spangled sangria, $5 4th of July jello shots, blue Italian ice shots, strawberry lemonade shots, and more. Carpe Diem Pub and Restaurant {1405 Grand Street, Hoboken} 

Carpe Diem, located in the heart of the vibrant NOVIA {North of the Viaduct} district of Hoboken {situated on the Northeast corner of 14th and Grand}, is your friendly neighborhood corner bar. It will be open from 4:00PM-2:00AM with a great selection of quality beers, wines, and spirits.

City Bistro {56 14th Street, Hoboken} 

This American bistro located in uptown Hoboken is a three-floor restaurant, bar +lounge and will be open normal hours from 11:30AM-1:00AM with Thursday happy hour specials A great spot for some drinks and food on the rooftop. Happy hour is 3:00PM to 7:00PM with half-priced draft beers, well drinks and select wines by the glass. Thursday is also tiki night so there will be $7 tiki cocktails and tiki-themed food all night.

Court Street Restaurant + Bar {61 6th Street, Hoboken}

Open from 4:30PM-11:00PM, this off the beaten path bar is one of Hoboken’s best-kept secrets. There is free street parking, too. 

DC’s Tavern {505 8th Street, Hoboken}

Hoboken’s steadfast welcoming drinking establishment. Opening at 4:00PM until 2:00AM, with $4 PBR and Tecate.

The Dubliner {96 River Street, Hoboken} 

Conveniently located two blocks from the PATH station, this Irish bar and restaurant serves classic Irish fare as well as a variety of favorites, all with a rooftop bar and beautiful views of the city. Open 4:00PM-2:00AM, come for Thirsty Thursday: $5 mixed drinks all night {no top shelf}, and $8 quesadillas.

East LA {508 Washington Street, Hoboken}

An institution in Hoboken since 1983, East LA serves Tex-Mex favorites and on the 4th special red, white and blue margaritas. Happy hour is from 4:00PM-7:00PM with $4 cervezas and $6 margaritas. Open 11:00AM to midnight.

Elysian Cafe {1001 Washington Street, Hoboken}

The oldest continually operated bar/restaurant in Hoboken, Elysian offers a French Bistro style menu, accompanied by Hoboken’s first 100% smoke-free bar. Open for lunch 12:00-3:00PM and dinner from 5:00PM-10:00PM. From 3:00-5:00PM they will be serving the bar menu with happy hour specials from 4:00PM-7:00PM.

The Ferry Man on 1st {94 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken}

Hoboken’s exclusive Irish Pub is serving drink specials all night long from 4:00PM-2:00AM: $10 fishbowl cocktails, $5 double house mixed drinks, $3 Bud/Coors Light drafts.

House of ‘Que {340 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

Grab a taste of Austin, while never leaving Jersey and celebrate Independence Day BBQ style on the Hudson. Open 12:00PM-12:00AM with happy hour specials until 7:00PM: $3 Miller and Coors Light drafts, $4 Shiner Bock drafts, $5 house wines, $5 Tito’s vodka drinks, and ½ price daily cocktail.

La Isla Uptown {25 12th Street, Hoboken}

A taste of Cuba on July 4th. Open regular hours from 11:30AM-10:00PM, with happy hour specials from 4:00PM-7:00PM, half price mojitos, by-the-glass wine, all draft beer and specialty cocktails, and the Two for Thursdays offer: the second drink is free with the purchase of two à la carte entrées. The second drink must be of equal or lesser price. It cannot be combined with happy hour and only applies to single drinks. Try their new Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale or The Forgotten Boardwalk, New Jersey’s first craft hard seltzer with J’aime Sparked Seltzer.

Madd Hatter Bar + Restaurant {221 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Madd Hatter Hoboken is a premier sports bar offering 40+ big screen TV’s, projection TV’s surrounding an enormous island bar. They are open for regular hours from 11:00AM-2:00AM, with happy hour specials all day long. Enjoy $3 beer, $6 mixed drinks, and $4 green tea shots.

The Madison Bar and Grill {1316 Washington Street, Hoboken}

There’s nothing like a BBQ on the 4th of July. Join the party at this bustling roadhouse-style new American fare space,  with chicken, ribs, burgers, sausages, foot-long hotdogs and drink specials all day including the all-night happy hour starting at 4:00PM with 1/2 price bottled and draft beer, house wine, and sangria, well drinks, and margaritas. Bar open from 11:30AM-2AM.

McSwiggans Pub {110 1st Avenue, Hoboken}

Bearing the congenial atmosphere of the traditional Irish pub, the hearty camaraderie of the sports bar, and the uptempo excitement of a trendy nightspot, stop by on the 4th from 4:00PM-2:00AM for $3 Bud Light bottles, $3 Spicekey shots, $5 any beer, $5 White Claw cans, and $1 tacos.

Mike’s Wild Moose Saloon {30 Newark Street, Hoboken}

Enjoy $1 beers, race the moose/race the clock, going up $0.25 cents every 30 minutes with a live DJ starting at 8:00PM. There will also be $0.25 cent wings.

Moran’s {501 Garden Street, Hoboken}

Serving the finest pint of Guinness this side of the Atlantic since 1989, Moran’s will be open from 11:30AM until 2:00AM, with happy hour specials: $5 craft New Jersey beer and $20 bottles of rosé and pinot grigio until 7:00PM.

Pier 13 {1301 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

Extending out into the Hudson and overlooking the NYC skyline, Pier 13 is a family-friendly beer garden featuring food trucks, water sports, and entertainment. On the 4th, they are open from 12:00PM-11:00PM with specials all day, every hour.

Pilsener Haus + Biergarten {1422 Grand Street, Hoboken}

An Austro-Hungarian restaurant and bar set in a turn of the century bierhall with an adjoining, outdoor Biergarten, will be open from 5:00PM-3:00AM with ½ price draft beers and appetizers from 8:00PM to 12:00AM, and the grill will be going all night long.

The Shannon {106 First Street, Hoboken}

The Shannon is Hoboken’s premier sports bar with two rooms featuring two different atmospheres. Play beer pong, foosball, giant Jenga, darts, or just dance in the back room, or just chill at the Irish pub style front room.  DJ Frankiez will be in the building Thursday playing the Top 40 hits + Latin, house, and hip-hop tunes. There will be drink specials all night from 8:00PM to 10:00PM featuring $5 shots and mixed drinks. It will be open 4:00PM-2:00AM.

Tally Ho {215 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Located in the heart of Hoboken on Washington Street, the doors open at 4:00PM with DJ Cream from Get Down DJ Group on at 9:00PM to close.  All drinks are ½ off all night.

Texas Arizona {76 River Street, Hoboken}

Steps from the Hoboken PATH, come by from 11:30AM to 12:00AM for casual fun, drinks and grub, happy hour specials from 4:00PM-8:00PM including: $4 Sierra Nevada Pints, $4 Sam Adams, $4 Sam Seasonal pints, $4 Blue Moon pints, $4 house wines, $5 Absolut drinks, and $15 sangria pitchers.

Union Hall {306 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

This new American Gastropub on the waterfront will be open normal hours on the 4th from 11:30AM-2:00AM. Try one of their 50 wines by the bottle and an additional 25 by the glass. Step up to the bar for a classic cocktail or a handcrafted seasonal drink. Beer lovers will want to try their very own “Union Brew” ale $2 mugs.  Happy hour specials include 4:00PM-7:00PM: half priced drafts and glasses of house wine and from 7:00PM-close: half-priced glasses of house wine.

Urban Coalhouse Pizza + Bar {116 14th Street, Hoboken}

Specialty pies, cocktails, and beers draw crowds to this festive joint with TVs and exposed–brick walls. It will be open for regular hours with happy hour specials from 12:00PM-7:00PM at the bar.

Wicked Wolf Tavern {120 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

With a view overlooking the Hudson River and the fireworks, day drinking fun awaits. Open from 11:00AM-2:00AM, with all day drinks and appetizers specials to celebrate the holiday including $3 summer beers, $5 glasses of sangria, and a $40 96 oz Mega Monster Mule.

Jersey City

Atlas Public House {130 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Come party at Atlas House, boasting two bars on the main floor featuring 10 taps showcasing New Jersey craft breweries alongside cocktails, and a diverse wine selection. It will be open at 11:00AM with lunch and dinner served and happy hour specials all day.

Bobby Dee’s JC {49 Beacon Avenue, Jersey City}

An old dive bar in Jersey City with food, music, sports and good times. Bobby Dee’s JC will be open on the 4th with happy hour specials from 4:00PM-7:00PM including $3 bottles or cans of beer and $3 well drinks.

Departed Soles Brewing Co. {150 Bay Street, Jersey City}

Jersey City’s first microbrewery will be open on the 4th from 12:00PM to 7:00PM.

Corkscrew Bar + Grill {61 Congress Street, Jersey City}

Located in Jersey City Heights, the bar with drinks, trivia, nine flat screens, and grub is open for normal hours from 3:00PM-2:00AM with happy hour specials from 3:00PM-7:00PM: $2 PBR and Yuengling drafts, $4 house drinks and wine. They will also be running food specials of BBQ spare ribs with baked beans and an Uncle Sam burger with American cheese, thick cut bacon, and BBQ sauce.

Fox + Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

The pub and parlor will be opening early on the 4th at 2:00PM with happy hour specials all day until midnight.

Hamilton Inn {708 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City}

Pay homage to a Founding Father with pork belly buns, Kobe truffle burgers, and a raw bar, the Hamilton Inn will be open from 11:30AM-11:00PM, with the bar open until 2:00AM. Enjoy an endless happy hour from 4:00PM-close. Try one of their CBD-infused cocktails while there. 

Hamilton Pork {247 10th Street, Jersey City}

What’s the 4th of July without Texas BBQ. The family-owned and operated bar and grill is open from 11:30AM-11:00PM, serving savory smoked brisket, ribs, sausages, and chicken with Mexican style street corn,  and burnt end beans. Indulge in an endless happy hour from 4:00PM-close with margaritas, frozen or on the rocks, and beer or wine. 

JSQ Lounge {50 Journal Square, Jersey City}

A Jersey City cocktail bar, by Jersey City, for Jersey City, directly across from the Journal Square PATH station. It will be open from 12:00PM-2:00AM with the full scratch kitchen open from 12:00PM-1:00AM and happy hour specials from 3:00PM-6:00PM including $6 margaritas, $5 Manhattan, Old Fashioned and well drinks, and $1 off all wine and beer.

Mathews Food and Drink {351 Grove Street, Jersey City}

Mathew’s is a lively neighborhood restaurant serving seasonal American fare, craft cocktails, and beer. Don’t forget to stop by on the 4th for the bad + bourgie BBQ menu going down. Happy hour is from 4:00PM-7:00PM. The locale will be open at 11:00AM for lunch and 5:00PM for dinner.

Porta {135 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Porta is hosting a free 4th of July Fireworks pre-party from 5:00PM-8:00PM on their rooftop with DJ Spirito. Giant games, red, white + blue drinks specials, and giveaways will be available. 

Surf City {1 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City}

Chill and relax with a frozen drink or a bottle of rosé, or have a seafood feast on the outdoor decks at this Jersey City beach bar + grill. Play games and enjoy magnificent views at a separate 21+ sand beach with a waterfront bar. Open from 12:00PM-2:00AM, Surf City has a full bar, wine, and a dedicated tropical frozen drink bar, with 75 beers on tap with a constantly changing selection of European imports and U.S. craft beers.

RoofTop at Exchange Place {1 Exchange Place, Jersey City}

Enjoy the 4th from one of the best views in Jersey City at this multi-level rooftop bar and terrace. The top-level will be open from 12:00PM-12:00AM, and the terrace level open 4:00PM-10:00PM. Enjoy their daily sunset punch while there and  check their Instagram for specials to be announced soon.

Taphaus {2 2nd Street, Jersey City}

Celebrate the 4th of July with an unobstructed view of the fireworks over at Taphaus with drink and food specials. There are two options for the night: $40 per person all-American buffet or a 3-course prix-fixe menu for $60 per person. If not dining, there is a $10 cover charge for the night. White Star Bar {230 Brunswick Street and 179 Warren Street}

White Star is a casual neighborhood American restaurant and craft cocktail bar in Jersey City. They use prime meat from Pat LaFrieda, bread from Balthazar, and the freshest locally-sourced vegetables 

Both locations are both open normal hours from 11:00AM-2:00AM. Stop by for a classic cheese dog or roadhouse burger special paired with red or white sangria or frosty frosé. The kitchen closes at 12:00AM at the Hamilton Park location and 10:00PM at the Paulus Hook locatiton. 

Zeppelin Hall Beer Garden {88 Liberty View Drive, Jersey City}

An authentic style European style Biergarten, with both indoor and outdoor spaces, swing by to celebrate with a big juicy burger and an endless happy hour featuring ½ price beer, wine,  and cocktails. It will be open from 4:00PM-2:00AM.

And for those that are looking for caffeine or a little mindfulness to start the holiday, bwè kafe {1002 Washington Street, Hoboken and 140 River Drive South, Jersey City} is open from 8:00AM-4:00PM at the Hoboken location and 8:00PM-7:00PM at the Jersey City location, or stop by Urban Souls Yoga {100 Hudson Street, Hoboken} for a special 4th of July class from 10:00AM-11:00AM followed by a 30 minute meditation.
