If you’re HGTV-obsessed, you’re in luck. Our Hoboken Girl of the Week, Alena Ciccarelli of Sothebys Realty, is going to be on HGTV tonight in just a few short horus— so we thought it only appropriate to feature her as our HG of the week! The local realtor is featured on an episode of House Hunters that was filmed in Hoboken.
On the show, Ciccarelli will be helping her clients from Australia whom are relocating to Hoboken. The airdate is scheduled for June 13 @ 10:00PM/9c and July 9th at 3pm EST {so set your DVRs!}. Two properties were featured on the show — one in Hoboken and one is in Jersey City. Spoiler alert: they choose the Hoboken address — but you should definitely watch our little Mile Square in its TV feature.
Ciccarelli has been working in real estate for the past 13 years, and with her last 11 years being in the Sothebys Hoboken office. We of course needed to ask her our famed HG Qs of the week to get to know this soon-to-be star {before the adoring fans don’t let us get a word in edgewise!}. So without further ado, here’s Alena:
What is your favorite restaurant in Hoboken?
I absolutely love the food at Otto Strada. I’m Italian American — and so of course I love Italy and traveling to Europe, and this restaurant reminds me of being there.
What is your favorite boutique in Hoboken?
WeeBabe…they have really good finds for kids! It’s such a cute boutique that really has products I like and use — and that are not as easy to find elsewhere.
What do you love most about Hoboken?
It has a little of everything. Practically anything you want to eat, you can find in Hoboken. It blends old and new — and I love that.
How long have you lived and/or worked in Hoboken?
I have lived/ worked here since ’03. I moved to the area and not long after decided I wanted to work in real estate. I enjoy working with people and being involved is such a personal endeavor as buying a home. Hoboken right felt like a great place to do that in.What is your favorite outdoor place to spend time in Hoboken?
What is your favorite place to workout in Hoboken?
Zen Space. I take yoga classes with Morgan Gertler Pirog. Morgan is great AND they offer Mommy and me classes there, which is great.
Where do you go out with friends in Hoboken?
The pier…love the water and a great city view! Who doesn’t enjoy sitting by a calming river or ocean and gazing off into the million dollar vista? The Biergarten is another go-to — the atmosphere is great, and I always have a good time there. I have been to Oktoberfest in Germany and have traveled to Germany 4 times in the last couple years — so I get nostalgic there. It’s fun, laid back, and people there are always in a good mood.
What is something that needs to come to Hoboken?
More parking? ha! A late-night bowling alley, a good uptown bagel store…and perhaps a Bloomingdales?
