• Hoboken Fitness: FIT RxN {Round 2}

    We’ve written about FIT RxN before and loved it so much that we needed to go back for seconds {especially since they’ve made some changes!}. For this visit we sent Hoboken Girl team member, Megan, on the day of their “Sweat For A Cause” event for a fresh perspective {she assures us there was definitely sweat–a lot of it!}. Without further ado, here’s her experience:

    The entrance to the gym is on the second level of 104 Hudson Street {there’s an elevator & a short flight of stairs that will lead you directly to their door!}. If you’re unsure of the building, it’s directly above Coopers Union & to the left of Hoboken Police Station. It’s also super close to the PATH station, so if you’re going before or after work it’ll be an easy commute {no excuses ladies & gents!}.

    When I arrived at FIT RxN {actually pronounce rēˈakSH(ə)n}, I was immediately welcomed and shown around the studio by their friendly front desk staff  {it was my first time}. Since I don’t “work out” very often, I was a tad nervous thinking I wouldn’t be able to keep up in class, however, their AWESOME instructors {Mr. Ray + JD} assured me otherwise. Their classes are designed for any fitness level, as every exercise has a modification to make it harder or easier {whatever you’re comfortable with!}. But don’t get caught slacking off—JD + Mr. Ray will make sure you’re giving it everything you’ve got!

    Their newest “HIIT class” is a full body workout that merges with CARDIO! It’s designed to keep your heart rate and caloric burn pumping–and trust me, it does! You’ll spend 45 minutes in their {new} Accelerator room where you’ll use spin bikes, gliders, kettle + sand bells & fun movements their instructors are always changing up.

    Some fun facts about HIIT classes:

    1. You can burn 700+ calories in only 45 minutes {whatttttt?!}

    2. You’ll lose weight. NOT the muscle you’re gaining from class.

    3. From doing this regularly, you’ll naturally increase your metabolism—aka, you’ll burn EVEN MORE calories! {WOOT WOOT!}

    The studio itself is VERY clean and fully equipped with towels, lockers, workout gear, a water cooler {be sure to bring a water bottle!} and bathrooms.

    The event I was lucky enough to be a part of was their annual “Sweat For A Cause.” After an hour of TRX + cycling, everyone headed to the Ale House to continue benefiting the charity but this time, with food & drinks! Proceeds from the event went to Running Through Walls, a foundation benefitting pediatric cancer patients.     All in all, FIT RxN was a wonderful experience and I was honestly sore the entire week. Though I usually just stick to hot yoga, this class has totally changed my outlook on high intensity classes & I can’t wait to give it another go.
