But…HOW?

There are a ton of ways — online dating, letting things happen by chance, blind dates, getting set up by a friend, and more…but sometimes you need to just get yourself out there to start. Meetup groups can be a great way to do this; no pressure, just fun — and in the worst case, you just end up with a funny story or a new friend. Here are five Meetup groups you should check out here in Hoboken:

1. Hoboken Social Sandbox:

A singles network group for Hoboken residents aged 22-40. The purpose of this group is to provide a venue where you can meet new people in a friendly atmosphere while exploring new places in Hoboken.

2. Hoboken Happy Hours:

This site is awesome, especially for those into cocktails after work. Their event page on their site, which is updated regularly, lists activities for almost every day of the month…hosted by the guys and other local businesses. They make going out and meeting new people fit around your schedule, and hold a lot of charity events, recently having a bar crawl that donated multiple cars full of toys for toys for tots.

3. Hoboken Ski Club:

On season they run plenty of weekend trips to resorts in the Northeast and several week long trips out West or to Europe. Off season they don’t stop- hiking, biking, happy hours, beach meet-ups and socializing are just a few of their activities. Their members are active men and women who live in the NJ/NY area, so if that “gym” part wasn’t in your weekly sequence, it may not be the right group for you. Still, the majority of their members are in their 20’s & 30’s {while they have no age limits, you do have to be 21 to join}. For more info, click here.

4. Hoboken Young Professionals:

Typical events are centered around drinks, and are a great way to network for professional relationships or even make some love connections. Currently there are 796 members, and they have a meetup group! Check it out here.

5. Zog Sports {Singles Only Leagues}:

Zog is a recreational sports league in Hoboken and many other locations.  Zog lets you sign up as a single person and they will put you on a team — the sports offerings range from bocce ball to volleyball to skeeball to ultimate frisbee to football and everything else in between.  If you are looking to meet new people, I would highly suggest this method as opposed to signing up with all your friends you already know. Click here to learn more about Zog.
