El Dia de Los Muertos is a famous holiday that originated in Mexico and over time, around the world. Translated to ‘The Day of the Dead’ in English, it is celebrated on the first and second day of November. On this day, it is believed that the pathway between the physical and spiritual world opens, and the souls of the dead can come back to the living world to eat, drink, and dance with their family and friends. In turn, the living family members leave their deceased family members’ food and ofrendas (offerings) at their gravesite. El Dia de los Muertos is a time to celebrate and remember those who have passed. Keep reading to see where to celebrate El Dia de los Muertos in the area.
