You already know we’re obsessed with The Village in Edgewater — and recently, we just found out the coffee x play locale is expanding to a second location at the Hudson Lights Plaza in Fort Lee. The Village, whose first location is at 250 Old River Road in Edgewater, provides a supportive environment for the entire family whether you just want coffee — or need space for your child to enjoy playing and learning. This unique spot combines the education of a learning center with the perks of a play cafe by providing a variety of children’s classes from dance and art to STEM and language. Here’s more about The Village’s new location coming to 2030 Hudson Street in Fort Lee this winter PLUS the exclusive offer for Hoboken Girl readers.

Expanding Learning + Play Into Fort Lee

Friends + neighbors, Dana Khaddash and Neha Chawla became new mothers in 2018 and felt the need for the support of a “village”, so they opened The Village in Edgewater as a nurturing Early Childhood Learning Center and Play Cafe. The Village provides parents with a one-of-a-kind space to enjoy coffee + light bites while their children make the most of the comforting Montessori-style activities.

Harborside Sport + Spine

Dana and Neha designed the space with a focus on early childhood development — The Learning Center at The Village provides several development-focused classes for children up to six years old. Currently open at 250 Old River Road in Edgewater, The Village will be opening a second location this winter in The Hudson Lights Plaza, located at 2030 Hudson Street in Fort Lee, NJ. Providing all the same perks as the current location, The Village Fort Lee will expand the reach of Northern New Jersey’s favorite new play cafe + learning center

Fun + Engaging Opportunities for Learning

The Village is a space where their children can be comfortable and play while also learning and developing — giving parents a chance to unwind, work, or have coffee in a positive and relaxing environment. The list of classes, camps, and workshops are refreshed on a regular basis so little learners can continue coming back to a familiar place to learn new things. A few of the activities currently available to families include:

AXIS School of Dance
  • Music + Movement with Kidzmusik ($38) guides students in songs with colorful props, real instruments, and costumes.
  • Let’s Make a MESS ($35) is a sensory and STEM-based exploratory class. This class encourages messy learning as little ones explore through sight, touch, smell, and hearing.
  • Mommy + Me: Book Club ($35) is a series of interactive classes featuring a summer themed read aloud followed by a sensory based activity or craft. Children will have a chance to socialize with peers through the class and during open play.
  • Make + Create Workshop ($35) is a STEAM-based 1-hour, drop-off class designed for children ages 3.5 to 5 years. Each week is centered around one complex take-home craft that incorporates building, decorating, and painting. There will be a light snack and sip break before moving on to STEAM centers, followed by 30 minutes of open play.

Families can join a learning pod in a clean and safe environment; shop non-toxic, sustainable, and quality toys thoughtfully; and enjoy open-play sessions, classes, and birthday parties — all in one space.
