12 Breast Cancer Awareness Events Happening in Hoboken + Jersey City{October 2018}

More than 250,000 new breast cancer diagnoses will be made in the United States this year. The month of October has long been declared Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Hudson County is showing its support in many special ways over the next few weeks. Check out the list below on events happening throughout town and learn more about how you can get involved {and email hobokengirlhelps@gmail.com for us to add/include your event in this list}.

JaneDO

Women supporting women is a philosophy the ladies at JaneDO know well. This October, they are showing their support for Breast Cancer through merch sales and hitting the pavement. A portion of proceeds from this tank will go toward their team goal for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 28.

Little Hoboken

Join in on Little Hoboken’s fight against breast cancer by purchasing one of their “Fight like a Mother” t-shirts here. Proceeds will benefit The Breasties organization.

Guests can “drink pink” at Bin 14 all month long. The “Bin & Tonic” is made with Gin Lane Victoria Pink gin. The distiller (and distributor) along with Bin 14 will be contributing proceeds for the remainder of the month

Friday, October 12th — 3rd Annual Pretty in Pink Breast Cancer Event at ShopRite {400 Marin Blvd. Jersey City}

InSerra Dieticians and ShopRite present the 3rd Annual Pretty in Pink Breast Cancer Event to raise awareness about breast cancer and educate attendees on preventative measures against the disease. The first 50 attendees will receive free goody bags and all attendees can enter to win a basket of cancer-fighting foods. Throughout the event, which takes place from 11:00AM-3:00PM, there will be vendors, music, food samples and health screenings by CarePoint Health. All proceeds from the day will go to Susan G. Komen and American Cancer Society.

Friday, October 12th — Drink Some Pink Breast Health Interactive Happy Hour at Athleta {316 Washington Street}

Carepoint Health and Athleta are partnering this Breast Cancer Awareness Month to educate attendees on breast health. OB/GYNs will be there to answer questions, Hoboken University Medical Center will be sharing information on breast health and Care Point will be giving updates on their upcoming Mammogram-a-Thon. While learning potentially life-saving tips, sip on pink champagne and enter to win prizes. The event will be held at Athleta from 5:00PM-7:00PM.

Saturday, October 13th  — The Bar Method’s Tuck for TaTas Donation Class {86 River Street}

Show up and get a great workout while supporting an even better cause. The Bar Method is putting on a donation class for breast cancer awareness month on the 13th. The class is $15 to sign up and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for research. Sign up here.

Sunday, October 14th — 2nd Annual Pink It Out Charity Event {Pier A Hoboken}

Head over to Pier A on Sunday for a day filled with fun while joining in the fight. Over 30 businesses will be stationed on Pier A selling goods and offering services all in support of breast cancer awareness. Vendors include Sugarsuckle, Shaka Bowl, Retro Fitness, Brass Rail and more. The schedule will include free workout classes, kids activities, vendors, food samples and more. The event will run from 10:30AM-1:00PM.

Saturday, October 20th — Carepoint Health Mammogram-a-Thon {176 Palisade Avenue Jersey City}

Getting a mammogram is the most recommended health precaution for protecting against breast cancer. Carepoint Health is providing women over 40 free breast exams, convenient appointment times for mammograms and free information on breast health to aide in early detection and prevention. Join the experts on October 20th from 8:00AM-7:00PM. To sign up, call 201-884-5329 and say that you want to be part of the Mammogram-a-Thon.

Saturday, October 20th & Sunday, October 21st — More Than Pink Health Expo {Newport Centre — 30 W Mall Drive, Jersey City}

Head over to the Newport Mall for a celebration of courage and day of education during the More Than Pink Health Expo. During the fashion show slated for that day, brave survivors of breast cancer will model the latest fashions from Macy’s and during the health expos, experts will be sharing tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle while educating attendees on breast health. The event will kick off at 10:00AM on Saturday and 11:00AM on Sunday.

Sunday, October 21st & Sunday, October 28th—Work It Out Breast Cancer Awareness Donation Classes {5 Marine View Plaza + 603 Willow Avenue}

Join Work It Out Fitness in the efforts to support breast cancer research. The fitness hot spot will be hosting donation classes on Sunday, October 21st at the River Location at 10:30am and Sunday, October 28th at the Willow Location at noon. Participants are encouraged to wear pink and all proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation. Head to the schedule page to book.

Sunday, October 21st — Cuteticles Breast Cancer Awareness Event {389 Central Avenue Jersey City}

Join Cuteticles for its first annual breast cancer awareness event. Head to the salon to enjoy spa services that will benefit the American Cancer Society — 50% of all proceeds from that day will be going there. No appointments are necessary for the event, and services will be done on a first-come, first served basis. Raffles, prizes, drinks, and refreshments will also be included in the day’s festivities. The goal is to raise $10,000 and the event takes place during normal business hours.

Sunday, October 28th — Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk {Lincoln Park, Jersey City}

The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk unites communities to support each other by honoring those touched by the disease by raising awareness and funds to fight for a world without breast cancer. Dollars raised by Making Strides supporters help the American Cancer Society ensure no one faces breast cancer alone by funding innovative breast cancer research, promoting education and risk reduction, and providing comprehensive patient support to those who need it most. You can start a team with as few as 2 people, and there is no registration fee or required minimum number of donations to participate. The walk will begin at 10:00AM and registration can be done on the American Cancer Society’s Event Website here.
