Since most of us have nowhere to go right now, we’re washing our hair less often than usual and opting for buns, ponytails, and braids instead of down doos. While not washing the hair gives shine back to the hair shaft, it does lead to a buildup in the scalp. To avoid that itchy, dry feeling, it’s best to revitalize your hair with a mask and make sure your scalp is restored.
Luckily we got the chance to speak with EC Beauty Studio’s esthetician, Erica Cerpa, who told us what works best for promoting healthy hair, without needing to go to a salon. Read on to learn these DIY hair mask and hair health tips.

The Scalp Treatment: The Coffee and Coconut

coconut oil

What You’ll Need

  • —1/4 warm coconut oil

What It Does

Coffee increases circulation. The coffee grounds add an exfoliant element that feels great, removes old skin, and encourages blood flow. Additionally, the coffee and coconut combination is a scalp treatment that will leave your hair smelling fantastic. If you have a lighter hair color, switch the coffee out for salt as the dark color could temporarily give your hair a brownish tint.

The DIY Hair Mask:

What You’ll Need

  • —2-3 egg whites depending on hair length
  • —3 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil

How To Do It

Combine and apply the mixture to your hair and let the mixture sit for 20 minutes before rinsing in the shower. The olive oil will help hydrate brittle locks, while the protein in the eggs will promote healthy hair growth.

Please note, the hair mask can also be applied to the face {on clean skin} for just 15 minutes to brighten the skin.
