About Art Fair 14C

Harborside Sport + Spine

With art fairs typically considered expensive for new artists and galleries, Art Fair 14C’s goal is to be more inclusive by offering lower participation costs so small to medium-sized galleries can also participate, have targeted community outreach, and have an accessible application process to make sure that all artistic styles, mediums, and sizes are included.

“Art Fair 14C was created because fairs are where the art world and art lovers come together, and participation is vital for the survival of galleries, the careers of artists, and the opportunity for the public to enjoy fine art. We’ve heard from our artists and our exhibitors how difficult the pandemic has been on them – with galleries closing, artists’ income reduced, and often months of isolation. Art Fair 14C has always been one of the most fun events on the arts calendar, and its return this fall is providing joy for our participants,”  says Robinson Holloway, founder, and director of Art Fair 14C.

This Year’s Event

In past years, the fair was held on the Jersey City waterfront at the Hyatt Regency.  This year, Art Fair 14C will be moved to Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. “The visual arts need to be seen – that’s why it was so important to us to have an in-person fair in 2021, and there’s no better venue we can imagine than the Glass Gallery at Mana Contemporary,” says Robinson.

The fair will feature over 120 regional and international artists and galleries. Many first-time exhibitors will be there including Akwaaba Gallery from Newark, 4 Flavors Art Gallery from Montclair, and Office Space from Salt Lake City, Utah.

There will also be five installation spaces which will allow for immersive art to be included. The installation booths will feature Anne Dushanko Dobek from New Providence, New Jersey, Debbie Hesse from New Haven, Connecticut, Frank Ippolito from Jersey City, New Jersey, Rita Jimenez from Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and Shell Space: Margaret Roleke from Easton, Connecticut.

This year will once again feature The Juried Show which showcases 40 New Jersey artists with about half being from Jersey City. Artists chosen for The Juried Show are given a central showcase that also offers exhibition opportunities throughout the year. The judges for the 2021 Juried Show include Ronni Anderson from Anderson Contemporary, Diana Burroughs from Marlborough Gallery, and Krista Scenna from Ground Floor Gallery.
