Today marks the one-year anniversary of the December 10th mass shooting in Jersey City. It was at approximately 12:30PM on this day last year when reports were showing that two gunmen driving a U-Haul truck stocked with firearms and explosives had opening gunfire on police officers in Bayview Cemetery, striking an officer down. The gunmen pursued a bodega called the JC Kosher Supermarket on MLK Drive, walking into the store armed, and fatally struck down three more innocent people during the ambush. Hoboken Girl reported on the situation as it was unfolding throughout the day.

Jersey City police immediately descended on the scene and advised everyone on the streets to lockdown and get inside. Multiple police units are on the scene, including the New York Police Department and the Newark Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, SWAT, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Multiple police officers were shot, but it was fatal for one officer, Joseph Seales. All public schools in Jersey City were shut down by the early afternoon, and students remained in place into the evening. Ultimately, the two gunmen were shot down.

A ceremony will be held Thursday, December 10 at 10:30AM, in front of Bayview Cemetery where JCPD Detective Joe Seals was killed by two shooters before attacking the Jewish community, killing three innocent civilians inside a kosher grocery store in an anti-semitic attack.

Mayor Fulop will be joining the Jersey City Police Department and family members of JCPD Detective Joseph Seals, who was senselessly killed in the line of duty last year.
