Phoenix is a ridiculously handsome, 10-month-old Chocolate Lab/Pit mix rescued by Wise Animal Rescue from the Associated Humane Societies-Newark Branch. Currently, he weighs about 65 lbs., but he still has a bit more growing to do. Our newest contributor, Kristina, is fostering Phoenix right here in Hoboken. She is happy to report that he is doing wonderfully in his foster home, spending his days going on walks, swimming at the beach, and taking naps with his foster sister Piper! Here’s a little more about this love bug who needs a forever home:

Phoenix is a very intelligent dog that loves learning new things. He has already mastered the commands sit, come, focus, and wait, and is working on roll over and down! He is highly trainable and, since he is just a puppy, will need a home that will continue his obedience training. Phoenix would do very well in a home with another dog. We know he’d love to have a doggy sibling! Due to Phoenix’s size, he would do best in a home with children 10 years or older. His foster mom is unsure of how he would do in a home with cats, but he can always be cat-tested to see!

Although Phoenix is young, he has wonderful manners. He rarely jumps or gets mouthy, and he listens very well. When meeting new people and dogs, his entire body wiggles and a big smile is painted across his face. Phoenix is a total sweetheart who gives lots of kisses and loves getting his belly rubbed. Even though he is a large dog, he walks very well in a harness. He is also crate and potty trained! Phoenix would be a great addition to any home looking for a smart, fun, cuddle buddy!
