Vinny Wassman passed away in early October 2019 — just a short time after Jen + Frank from our Van Vorst Films podcast team visited him and recorded this interview in September. As a special tribute to this Hoboken legend, we decided to air Vinny’s interview in its entirety as he would have heard it.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to his family, and to our Hoboken community who loved him very much.

On this special feature Tea on the Hudson podcast episode, Jen sat down for an exclusive interview with 94-year-old Vinny Wassman at his home in Hoboken. Vinny shared what growing up in Hoboken was like in the 20th-century, how much it has changed, his beloved late dog Cole, and even that time he met Frank Sinatra.

Our non-profit for this week is the American Legion in Hoboken. You can read more about Vinny and Cole here.

To honor Vinny’s memory, our Hoboken Girl Helps team will be writing cards to veterans and local seniors in Hudson County in early November. To get involved, email hobokengirlhelps@gmail.com + stay tuned to HobokenGirl.com for more info!

Rest in peace, dear friend, and thank you for your service.
