The Heights has another new kid in town and it’s quite a welcome addition to the neighborhood! The Hutton bar and restaurant {located at 225 Hutton Street} offers modern American cuisine in a warm and rustic setting. While the restaurant itself is newly renovated, the original brick and wood paneling has been restored to its former glory {it was an Irish pub for 40 years prior to closing in 2013} giving it much of its character.
When you first walk in, the bar is open and inviting with large windows that let in plenty of light. The dining area sits further back, making it cozy and intimate for a night out with friends {or for that hot date coming up}. A back patio adds extra outdoor space,and is even heated, so you can take advantage of it on those cool autumn nights.
Their fully stocked bar serves up local craft beer options, as well as creative and cleverly-named cocktails {try the 225 Smash or the Northern Heights}. The wine list has all of your needs covered and you can even buy a bottle {at a reasonable price} to share. The Hutton also features food and wine pairings, giving the opportunity to balance the flavors of your meal with a perfectly matched glass {or bottle} of wine. Happy hour specials are also available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3pm – 6pm.
Make sure to go on an empty stomach, because once you take a look at the spread you’ll want to try everything. They have an inventive menu which is full of upscale, flavorful bar food and was curated by Chef Deuhana Vargas using seasonal local ingredients. Their market soup changes on a daily basis {for fall, you can expect flavors like butternut squash, parsnips and cream of mushroom} and they even make their pasta fresh in-house.
If you are vegan or gluten free, fear not – they have a special menu just for you. And don’t forget to leave room for dessert! Italian donuts, ice cream and sorbet round out the meal for those with a sweet tooth. For something more savory, you can order a cheese plate.
