CBD Oil has been the hottest craze lately — and Hoboken and Jersey City residents are particular to one local brand — Rosebud CBD. We had the opportunity to chat with Rosebud CBD’s founder, Alexis Rosenbaum {who surprisingly was anti-cannabis for most of her life}. Now, she’s killin’ the CBD game and we’re sharing the story of her journey with you. Read on to learn all about our Hoboken Girl of the Week, Alexis Rosenbaum of Rosebud CBD.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and Rosebud CBD.

My name is Alexis Rosenbaum, and I own Rosebud CBD. I grew up in a small town in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio, just two miles down the road from my husband. We started dating our senior year of high school and spent the next 10 years long distance while he played pro baseball for the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox. Shortly after his retirement in 2015, we moved to Hoboken to pursue our careers.

I was against cannabis for my entire life until my baby sister gifted me edibles for my 29th birthday. She told me to “eat 1/2 of this now, turn on a funny movie, and order some pizza” so that’s what I did. A week later I smoked my first joint, and my eyes were opened to a world of wonder, possibility, and perspective. After a year of use, I was looking for an all natural alternative to help me ease the anxiety and stress of my day without the high. Enter CBD.

After months of searching for a CBD oil that was transparent and coming up empty handed, I decided to hunt down a farm willing to meet my standards. I launched Rosebud CBD in April 2018 out of our 900-square-foot, one-bedroom Hoboken apartment. Now, I’ve found a nourishing routine with daily CBD use to keep me focused, comfortable, and off edge, and cannabis flower when I need to find my creative rhythm.

Rosebud CBD is sun-grown on a small farm in Oregon, a state known for its high-quality farming and legal market. Our full spectrum CO2 extract CBD oil is mixed with MCT oil for faster release. Our farmers have careers and educations in organic farming and do not spray a single thing on our plants. We do not use herbicides, pesticides or solvents, and every batch of hemp is third-party lab tested ensuring quality and purity. Rosebud CBD is free of any fillers, flavorings, sweeteners or preservatives.

Who or what is your biggest source of inspiration?

My biggest source of inspiration lately has been my whiteboard. I recently purchased an enormous two-sided whiteboard on wheels. It fuels my creativity because it’s a huge source of freedom for me; there are no restrictions or fear of mistakes because I can easily erase and start over again. The way the marker moves so smooth and quick across the board allows ideas, thoughts, and dreams to just flow. I love it. I can’t believe I functioned without it.

I’m really inspired by New York City women. They have this way about them that is strong and bossy but at the same time so friendly and glam. They all seem to be chasing some dream or opportunity. It’s an inspiring and powerful energy to be around!

What are your goals for the new year? What are you most passionate about?

2018 has been all about growth and opportunity. It was a year of doing it all and doing it all on my own. In 2019 I want to refine, scale and expand.

I am truly passionate about doing whatever it takes to have the life that I want.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day starts at 5:30ish when my dogs wake me up for their walk. Straight from their walk, I enter my office to open my computer by 6:15am. My husband brings me breakfast in my office as I review emails and orders from the night before. I handle any customer service needs and prepare for fulfillment of orders. Order fulfillment requires folding boxes, stuffing them with filler, reading the order, and packaging it all up. Once the orders from the day before are all set to go out, I dive right back into emails. The majority of my work day during the workweek is dedicated to managing my inbox, sharing social media content, and communicating on current projects and with contractors. Some days are filled with back to back calls or meetings or business events. There’s usually an ungodly amount of admin work that needs to be done that includes managing expenses, dealing with credit card processors, and ordering supplies. When 2:30pm comes around it’s time to walk my dogs, grab something to eat and restart my day for phase two. I try to take a moment to catch my breath and relax. Then, I pretty much start all over again until the evening when I head to the gym or a yoga class. Nighttime is my time to get creative.

What are the highs and lows of the job?

Highs: The pure fulfillment and joy I get out of this industry. Despite the stress that comes with it, there are so many moments that just feel so right. I’ve never had this much fun and felt this fulfilled in my entire life.

Lows: The toll it takes on my personal and social life.

What has been the highlight in your career/life so far? What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The connection cannabis ignites is the highlight in my life so far. I was the last in my family to consume cannabis. Before that, my family had a secret from me that sort of separated us. Once I started to consume, my entire family came back into my life. I have this amazing relationship with my mom for the first time, I call my 72-year-old Nana to gossip, and my siblings are a part of my life nearly every day. My marriage has never been more in love, more fun, or more freeing.

What’s a day off like?

Lately, my days off are very far and few between so I just love to be home. Once I’ve had enough of that, I love to run errands. Before we moved to Hoboken, we lived in the suburbs where I drove everywhere every day all day. There’s something really fun about getting in the car and running a bunch of pointless errands. It’s kind of like being 16 again and having the freedom to go and do whatever you want on your own time.

What advice would you give to someone trying to pursue your career path?

Make sure you have a strong cannabis-focused legal team in place from day one so that they can review and advise every step of the way.
